Do you know someone who spends most of the day and night on the internet? Gaming has taken over the adult world and a lot of adults are playing wiht every minute of free time. Chatting has taken over meeting real people, are we losing out on interpersonal relationships for internet relationships?

Yes, the internet certainly has me addicted. Sometimes I only intend to go on to check something, then something else will catch my eye and before I know it, an hour has gone by. I think my husband is jealous because sometimes when I am surfing, or in a good site, he will talk to me and I won't even hear what he said. I have to make an effort to stay off the pc!

Interesting thoughts! I don't know if we'll know the answer until the newborns currently are grown up as I think inter-personal skills are developed as a child. Therefore people like us will already have developed these skills although we may choose not to use them.
Personally I think the internet can be addictive. Although in my case I can happily not go on the net but once I'm on I find it really hard to come off!

Well I do not know of anyone who is that addicted to the internet. My sons used to get their friends over and would set up the computers in the basement, and play Dungeons and Dragons with each other, and later used to spend hours chatting with virtual stranger online while playing Everquest. However, they still went to their friend's houses and visa versa. I suppose for someone who finds it hard to converse with someone personally, there would be a danger of internet addiction. So I suspect that those prone to addiction would have had difficulty in maintaining interpersonal relationships even if there were no internet.
