And the Sign Said....What?!!

I decided to take a drive alone tonight. As I was driving along I was taking in the scenery of our small town. What a lovely place it really is. The colonial houses, the quiet streets, the roadside farmstands. As I was passing a farmstand there were signs posted to alert the passing driver that they had Corn, green beans, and the one that caught my eye "Cucks". Now, I usually try not to be critical of spelling errors but that one was a bit too close to another word. I know they meant to use the abbreviation for cucumbers, which is Cukes.

I am sure they meant nothing by it, but it didn't sound good! lol Sometimes we all make stupid mistakes.

I imagined large chickens going 'cluck, cluck, cluck' but that's just me. It is close to that word which we cannot write here on myLot. But cukes is so simple a word, or maybe they asked their three year old to write it.

That would have surprised me as well had I seen that sign. They should have thought about that one better. I think there are worse words or spelling errors that could have been made. We do not see signs like that around here. I bet the scenery in your area is very nice.

Common spelling errors can bemuse, amuse and confuse us. I am glad you knew what that one was. I could think of lots of other things that sound like the word you saw. Out in the country, I thought of Ducks. Me, I'd like a million Bucks. It is a nice time for farm fresh foods.

It was too close to the other word for a rooster.

Well, I was dense, or over tired, or something. That never came to me, but I can see it now.

You should have taken a picture of it and sent it to David Letterman or Jay Leno. They are always looking for those kinds of things. I had no idea what cucks was until you translated it. I couldn't begin to imagine. I'm still working on peckle. LOL!

What a great idea! Not only did they goof up on cukes, but they goofed on another sign too. I noticed it today!

That is too funny. They really should use the proper spelling for those who are not familiar with the nick names of words. just because we know dosnt mean other people know.

Or maybe they are now selling Ducks. Hanging and ready to be roasted. Or alive and you pick one and then take it home and wring its neck. Do you have any new folk in town that would want fresh duck? I do know what you mean about typoes. I see them all the time in different places and then I say, "they need me". With me at the wheel they would not exhibit poor grammar or spelling. lol Thanks for sharing this and good for you that you got out for a little you time.

Yes, well, I am sure that sign caused a bit of amusement. I bet they had a few complaints too, from the less broadminded in our society.
