just to cover you up.... how do you feel? well let me rephrase that... do you let your children lie just to cover you up? how do you feel? can this affect your child?

I still believe in saying that "parents are the mirror of their children" what children see to their parents has a big factor to them...that's why we always explain everything the don'ts and the do's in life for them to be able to understand. If they lie and you will explain to them we have to lie then I'm sure they'll understand...sometimes we do lies to make everything shut up...and no trouble.

yes that is true, parents are the mirror.... when they do something wrong it becomes right in the eyes of the child. thanks for the response

well, that might be because the child is trying to defend his parent. or to cover up so that he feels better about his parent. both ways i think it's best of course if this did not have to happen. it might lead to more story-telling in future. i think i knew someone who used to tell us his whole life story and it was all fake after someone caught him out on something. it was quite sad cos he wasn't even a kid anymore and felt that he had to construct a ficitious background.

yes thats what i have in mind, if a child felt good about telling a lie because it saved an older person or the parents, the child will be feeling that it is okay to lie. thansk for the response

I don't like to hear children lying. I would rather not put them in any position where they feel that they need to lie to cover up for me or anyone else. I think that it can affect children because you are teaching them that it is ok to be dishonest.
