Freaky weather

So last night it was thunderstorm'n, and you know me..I enjoy storms 'cause of the smell and awesomeness..so I got up and started my regular pattern.
And then my little brother pointed out..
"Hey..the sky is orange. Why is the sky orange?"
I was startled. 'Cause we don't have that many street lights on our street..and we can usually see the stars out here on the outskirts of the city.
There was NOTHING to make almost the entire sky orange. The clouds were bright too.
But it faded after like thirty or so minutes.
Do any of you know what causes that? 'Cause it kinda bothers me..I don't remember anywhere in my science books where that's a common natural phenomena.
Any ideas?

I missed it, at 4 am I do believe I was getting my scrog on, lol. I'm not even sure if we got anymore storms here, we had some sometime yesterday, but it was much earlier than that. Let us know what you find out.

I dunno if it was like that everywhere there was a storm on what was it? Friday? *thinks it was..pokes tired brain* Anyways..it rained later that day, and no orange sky. That night too. Ditto.
So I dunno yet. Still lookin' into it, I'll post in here again if I find out anythin' new.

Four in the morning.
And nope, no fires..I checked. And there would've been more of a smokey, or shadowy/flickery-ness to it if it was anyways *experience with fires*
Besides..if it was a fire, there would've been a smell..because nearly the whole sky was orange. It'd have to be a mighty big fire.

We had them and I did my best to try and sleep through it. Was pretty tough since it affected my radio by my bed with the statis emissions. Also a couple of strikes woke me up seeming to be very close. Middle of the night orange is not something that I have seen either. Not sure what would cause that in the middle of the night.
I hope that this discussion answers your question since it matters and maybe might happen again. We need to know.

I hope the question's answered too. It'd be neat if it was a new and beneficial phenomena somehow, though.
*can hope, anyways*

You mught have seen a bit of the aurora borealis. It can be freaky. Beautiful. One night when I was in California years ago i was driving and my daughter pointed out that thre was a rainbow (nightsky-)and i pulled over to take a look. It was breathtaking. Lasted about a half hour. since then I read that occassionally it is visible here in the lower 48 sometimes.
PS didja miss me?

Hmm..I didn't think aurora berealis was orange though O_O and it's weird during the middle of a storm. At sixty degrees no less, heh..
If it was though, awesome..'cause I didn't know if I'd get to see that in my lifetime, heh.
(And yes I did ^_^ I've been gone for awhile meself.._ yay for backness! ^.^)
