I have seen several of Michael Moore's movies, but haven't seen "Sicko" yet (but I will). As far as I'm concerned, the whole Bush administration could do so many other things that need being done rather than subpoenaing Michael Moore about going to Cuba. Don't even get me started on that...

There are so many other things for them to worry about!

Thanks for giving me the Best Response. I may have a follow-up to this discussion since I'm going through some health problems at the present time. Can't wait to see that movie.

the film is very enlightening and poignant. health is a very personal and sensitive topic to most of us. but there is also a public aspect of it. the government is duty-bound to provide health care to its citizens.
what happens if this duty is transferred in the hands of the private sector? commercialization of health and services becomes accessible to only those who can afford it. health care loses its public aspect and it becomes wholly a private transaction.
come to think of it, when someone in your community is sick, the community is concerned about the well-being of that person. we visit him/her, pray for him/her, send get-well wishes. with the impersonalization of society and commercialization of health, it breaks our heart to see someone's sick because we know the expenses that go with it. we think of the economic effect of the sickness to the person and not to the community.
too sad and bad, we live in a community directed to that. moore's film is a wake up call to break that trend. care for your neighbor, care for your countrymen/women, care for the person. it is a start. let's do it.

I saw the movie on DVD over the weekend and it is again fascinating. This man is so gutsy for going out there and shoving the truth in our faces. The Bush administration has been tagged the most dishonest one in American history. I just finished a book called "Worse than Watergate". and boy did I find out a lot I did not know. Not only is Bush dishonest and devious but Chaney is just as bad if not worse. The devil sure did team these two up together. Will they never end?
People who want to ridicule Mr. Moore (who usually have not bothered to take the time to even watch the movies) are the same ones who keep their heads stuck in the sand and not face reality. I applaud him for not letting the present administration hide these facts from us.
