I had bought so many pacifiers for my boy long before he was born. I thought all babies will love it. But he really dont like it. If I put it in his mouth, he will just get it and just bit the holder. Do your babies like pacifiers?

Hi. I have two children, and none of our children were introduced to the pacifier/dummie as we call it here in NZ... My mom never raised us on one either, and our children were very content and settled that they didnt need a dummie at all...

Mine only used it for about 3-4 months. Then, he discovered his THUMB! LOL!! That's the end of the pacifiers. Hmm...now, if only I can get him to stop sucking his thumb so much.

Hey marriedamarine. I have heard that it will be more harder to stop sucking thumb habit than pacifiers. There are person even they have been adults still such their thums. But not all of them off course. I have read that if you see your baby try to put his thumb in his mouth just try to take his hand and just playing with him to get rid of the tought of sucking thumb. Try it... Good luck :D

I would be happy! That means he won't get hooked on it and you won't have to wean him off of it!

My daughter wasn't keen on having one the first few times we gave it to her, she just didn't like the feel of it i guess. We tried all different brands & teat sizes/shapes & in the end we put some Glycerin on it & that was it, she loved it & it came in super handy when she was teething! They wont take to it right away but after a bit they will, especially if they are teething, it helps relieve the pain! It is a good thing if they don't like them coz you don't need to get them out of the habit of using one but then you'll just have a grumpy baby while they're teething, that was the bonus i found - it helped to calm her gums & she was quiet while her teeth came in!

My boy will just bite them instead of sucking. And the worse thing he doesnt like to bite the rubber instead of the holder. For his teething I buy him alot of teethers so he can bite them anytime he likes..

My son loved them but my daughter goes back and forth still from her thumb to one. I have a friend who her 1st two didn't take ot one and her 3rd loves it. Every baby is different. I even had to buy new bottles because my daughter didn't like the same kind my son used.

Yes, every baby is different. Do your babies share bottles among them? I dont but actually kids dont like to share things to another, especially when they are different gender. I can see my nephews and niece are all like that.

Well most babies I know love pacifiers, but some don't it prob best not to use pacifiers past 6 mos then it will not mess up their jaw/teeth, most children who end on pacifiers will need orthodential care and some dentists these days won't accept insurance but CASH! So it varies.......

I find it better when they don't get used to a pacifier. My older son used a pacifier when he wanted to sleep till he was 10 months and then I just threw it away!(he was very easy to train) My second refused to take the pacifier when he was a couple of months old. He would push it right out with his tongue(he was still nursing). When I had to wean him (for a medical reason), I found that he couldn't sleep without sucking (he would nurse before he slept). So, I reintroduced the pacifier and he was okay. My husband found it easier to use the pacifier when he wanted to put him to bed and now he wants it everytime he needs to sleep:( I'm trying to stop the habit.
