Have you ever been upgraded to first class on a flight?

I got upgraded for part of my journey when returning to the UK from India a couple of years back. I was flying alone and the airline needed to put a family of 3 in seats next to each other and so I got bumped up to 1st class for part of the journey. It was about 5 hours worth of flight so I (and the other passengers in 1st class) got some peanuts and fruit juice to keep us quiet whilst the rest of the passengers boarded. Then we got to choose our food from a menu. We had cabin crew at our beck and call and they were actually polite to us and smiled compared to the grumpy sods in economy class. I found the food was barely enough to feed a pigeon to tell you the truth although it was very tasty but the meals are actually more filling in economy class and it was rather annoying that the cabin crew ask if you need anything literally every 15 minutes. I just wanted to tell them to leave me alone! Some people say that if you turn up really late for your flight you can get bumped up but I've never had the cheek or nerve to turn up so late that the flight might take off before me! Good luck!

It just seems so nice up there. I hate being herded like sheep into economy. It's not a very long flight anyhow, but, maybe we'll get lucky.

I don't know of any way to get a first class seat on a plan, other than PAYING FOR IT!! That is the best trick I can think of of obtaining a first class seat on a plane. I'm not interested in spending that much money on a trip that is going to take up the same amount of time, so I'm happy flying ecconomy class.
