We went to the tractor/truck pulls tonight. About half way through this HUGE GREEN bug comes flying over me, barley misses the guy behind me, and nicks a ladys sholder before it lands on some poor girls popcorn!! They all jumped about 4 feet. LOL They were all taking pictures of it with there cell phones. One guy says to his wife "What is it?" She says "I dont know but its HUGE!" Now the whole time im thinking I want that bug for my lizard. He would love it!! I have a Bearded Dragon. I looked at my husband and said "IM going to go get it" Hes like "No dont...your wierd" I said "So what? Piston will like this bug"{My lizard needs to eat and this was free food} So I got up and went and asked the people if I could have him. They looked at me kinda wierd. LOL The guys like sure I dont want him. I told him I had a lizard that would live to eat it. Hes like "Here You Go..Take him Home and name him Charlie" LOL!! So I Brought him home in the popcorn box!! I know your all wondering what kind of bug it was. Its a Praying Mantis and a good 4-5 inches long!! Heres a pic of our buddy Charlie! LOL!! I have more to post so look for them. Thanx All!

You must be in Texas, because that is the only place I have ever been where I can recall seeing the biggest greenest grossest bugs in my entire life! If you are not, then take a trip to the HOuston area sometime, yhou'll find tons of large free meals for you lizard all over out there! I swear some of the bugs there could have carried me off for lunch! Hope Piston ejoys his dinner!

Man, I hate to tell you this, but you broke the law. It is my understanding that Praying Mantis are an endangered species. This may not be such a good thing to do next time you encounter one.

Nice Title. We had these all the time in Arizona. They would ride comfortably on the windshield wipers while we were zipping down the road. I was actually afraid of them. I can't imagine that they are endangered (although I haven't researched it yet) being an insect. They must multiply by the millions. He was cute. Poor Charlie. I can't believe you named him and not 10 seconds later let Piston devour him..
