You know, those moments where you think you must have stepped into the Twilight Zone for just a few minutes? Share your Twilight Zone moments.
I have two that I can think of.
One morning I called my friend Jamie (a male) to find out what time we were going somewhere. His mother answered the phone and I asked for Jamie. She responded with "She's not here right now, can I have her call you back?" Wha? So I said "did you say 'she?' The mom said yes, I confirmed that I did indeed dial the correct number. I said goodbye and called again. Jamie (my friend) answered the phone. THe thing is, his mom had a very distinctive voice. There's no mistaking it. She always sounded like she'd just swallowed a bottle of Valium and was about to pass out.
The second one... I call it the candy store in the Twilight Zone. My sister, 2 cousins and I were dropped off at the mall for a few hours to hang out. There was a new candy store at the mall. I remember it distinctly, they carried a lot of penny candies, and candies that were more unusual. They also had the biggest selection of pez dispensers I'd ever seen. I bought 4 (still have them, too). The next time we went to the mall, about 2 weeks later, the store was gone. My cousins do not remember this store existing. My sister and I DO remember it.

Many years ago I lived at an apartment complex that was not known for its security. One night I awoke in the middle of a terrible dream that people were breaking into my house. Nothing of that sort happened but as I drove home in the dark the next night, it soon became apparent that I had no headlights. When I examined the car, I found someone had stolen just the bulbs out of my headlamps.
A few nights later, someone came in the middle of the night and stole the entire headlamp assembly and the grille.
But the freaky thing was after I had replaced the headlamp but not the grille, I went out one morning to go to work and found that someone had come in the middle of the night and put the stolen grille back on the car!
Somehow the idea of someone coming to return stolen parts was freakier and scarier than them having stolen them and I jumped in the car and locked the doors, yelling "if you're trying to drive me crazy, it's working".
To this day I have never figured out a reason for anyone to take the chance of getting caught putting stolen items back on my car in the middle of the night.
