Here in Houston we are being advised to conserve energy. Seems that because the temperatures are so high the public utility people say we should raise our thermostats to conserve energy and lower our electric bills. Are they kidding! I have my thermostat set at near 80! I am worried at how much our electric bill will be as it is now! Man. I sure hope our ex-neighbors are having a better time in Alaska.

We are lucky here and haven't had too many days that were unbearable. I watch the weather channel in the mornings and see that you have really had a long summer! Hope it cools down for you.

Lucky you! Houston is always hot and humid. This year seems to have been especially hot. Of course now we just had flooding rains because of Erin and next week we are expecting to get at least some effects of Hurricane Dean. We are way over in the water this summer. There was a lot of flooding and closed highways and roads yesterday. And this was not even a hurricane.

yup, we here in ontario (canada) have been asked to do the same...even though canada is known for ice and snow, we have short and usually intensely hot summers (it has been as high as 95 w/ humidity at almost 100 here ICK!!!) anyways, it seems that there is more demand during the summers for electricity than supply

Wow! I visited Toronto in July of 1985 and noticed that it was humid. But I really liked it there. Is it always so humid in the summer? I guess the lake has something to do with it. I almost wish I could move there, but not with so much heat and humidity, I might as well stay here.
