renting a camera

I really would love to have a SLR digital camera. I keep hearing raves about the Canon Rebel SLR digital and about the lenses. I have no way to come up with $700-800 to buy one, especially since I got my current camera last December, so not even a year ago. I was wondering if I could rent one for a week just to try it out and see how I like t. Then maybe if I don't like it I can get it off my mind. (though kind of doubting it) We are going on vacation in Spetember and I was thinking of taking it with me. I just can't fins a place that rents out high end cameras and equipment.

I will do some brainstorming and see if I can find anything for you. Good luck!

Thank you. I called around to some camera and photography shops and only 1 place rents cameras but at almost $100 a day. For our vacation it would almost pay for itself...lol. No deal there. Let me know if you come up with anything.

I was thinking of going digital myself, just yesterday! :) The prices are still steep for the best stuff, so looking inot renting is a good idea... try contacting some of the magazines like Popular Photograpy: http://www.popphoto.com/photocontests/2233/contests.html and such, their editors might be able to help you out! :)

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I don't want to wait until the last second before vacation. I am checking that link now. Digital is a lot more expensive then standard. I have a really nice standard camera but I do a lot of uploading and taking pictures of kids you might need to take 5 shots for a good one. Ends up cheaper for me in the long run.
