My doctor's appointment on Monday August 13, 2007

As some of you know I have an illness that may or may not be Meniere’s disease. I have dizzy spells I have fallen several times. I have body jerking that includes my head, arms and upper body sometimes it includes my legs. The jerking is annoying and I cannot control it. The jerking comes and goes, sometimes it is worse than others, today my speech was affected which meant I could not find words and when I could I could not get them out. I was having a lot of trouble pronouncing some words. There are times I am so dizzy that I have to walk with a walker even in the house. When I stand up I wobble back and fourth until I can get my balance. It is horrible to be this way, especially because no one can tell me what I have. I went to my neurologist today, she saw my body jerking for the fist time. I have been complaining about it for a year but she has not seen it. She wants me to go back to the University of San Francisco Medical Center to a movement disorder doctor. I was up there in February this year and they where suppose to be getting all my medical records which they did not, and I was suppose to be going back up there to consult the movement disorder person. I have been tested for MS and it was negative. My twin sister was diagnosis with MS this June; we have a lot of the same symptoms. She is off of work because of it. I am waiting for an appointment to UCSF that could be four to six months. The worst part of all of this is most all of my systems have gone away and then came back full force. Weeles wabble but they do not fall down, I wabble but I fall down.

I've wondered if it was parkinsons, or if it is MS or something else. I do not know, I am waiting to see what UCSF says. The worst part is driving up there. I do not drive because of bouts of double and blurred vision. I also do not want to have my husband take to many days off of work. I guess I can take public transportation up by my self. If push comes to shove I can do that.

Not worried, I do not think I will die, it is frustrating, and depressing, because of how life aultering it is. I need lots of rest, I jerk when I least expect it and cannot control it. Sometimes I feel like I my skin is crawling, and other times I just keep jerking, it keeps me awake at night.

I am so sorry to hear this. I can guess that a lot of your stress comes from not knowing. I know I have been sick many times and it has instantly gotten better once the doctor tells me what it is. I hope that they will be able to find out what it is real soon and that it wont be anything real serious. I have a cousin that was diagnosed with MS at the age of sixteen. They were saying that she was one of the youngest people ever diagnosed. However, she has not had any symptoms since she was first diagnosed about seven years ago.

Sorry I missed this...I'm still not getting my email notices, even though I emailed MyLot...I have to hunt my friends discussions the old fashioned way and it takes me forever I have to laugh at the one doc who you had seen before...like just because you didn't have a "spell" of your symptoms while there previously she couldn't have made some kind of better referral sooner?? And now you have to go back to that medical center..yikes--it seems like the whole thing is dragging out--Well at least the good news in a way that MS was ruled out...but to not know what the heck is wrong must be driving you nuts!

I hope its not seriously, I'm praying and rooting for you teapotmom. The only thing this roaming scientist could say is that it might be a muscular malnourishment issue. My mom had some similar symptoms to yours, I told her it could be a potassium and calcium deficiency. She upped her intake (always has a few glasses of orange juice and a couple of glasses of milk each day) and her symptoms got better. I'm only saying this in order to give you more avenues to try. If anything, at least your general health can benefit. Wishing and hoping for the best, Pro.
