I have had my oldest grandson since Thursday early afternoon. My daughter dropped him off at my wifes work. She works as a waitress/manager at a restaraunt and he has been wanting to work with her. So he stayed there all day Thursday working until 10 p.m. He had a blast & Debbie said he was a great help doing the dishes, filling the sugars, cleaning tables and other small jobs. Friday night I took him to our Local NASCAR track for a fun filled night. Now it's Saturday afternoon * I taught him a type of paper airplane to make that flies great. I must have about 10 of these scattered all over the house. He has fainally sat down watching the Cartoon Network and is quiet for a change. Now Grandpa Bob get's a break. I guess he wants McDonalds for dinner tonight so that it shall be. He goes back home Sunday night. It's been a blas. But now the youngest grandson feels letf out and wants to stay a long weekend with us alone. So I suppose his turn is soon. Thanks for letting me share this with you all. HAPPY POPSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

How old is your oldest grandson? It is a good idea o let him dee how people work. Gives him a focus & helps him to learn responsibility. Plus he gets to spend some time with grandma. I remember the fun our kids had when taught to make a paper airplane. It's good to teasch kids skills like this. I bet he wants Macs for tra!

Sitting - Realxed near the siren on the front of the firetruck
At the County fair they usually have a FIREHOUSE. It's a trailer thats built like a house to teach kids about escaping a burning building. Both grandsons love that exhibit and learn about crawling on the floor below the smoke etc. Also about smoke alarms and fire drills etc etc. Tyler is 8. I mistakenly said 9 earlier. Ugg! My mind is going in my age. HAHAHA! In this photo I asked the firemen to turn the siren on. But they wouldn't. HAHAHAHA! That would've been funny to a point. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I used to have the granddaughters take turns spending the weekend. That way they each had their own special time. We would go to the grocery store, they got to pick out what we had for dinner. Then they would come back and help cook the dinner. I have a special bond with my grandchildren, the girls and the boys. I love being a gramma, I take it serious. My grandchildren are my world. The girls are teenagers now, they still come over spend the night and just hang out with gramma. They even bring their friends over to visit. The boys are younger, but they all think I am magic. I am known as grammasmagic in the computer world. I come up with that name with the help of the kids. My granddaughter spells gramma this way and the grandsons say I am magic. I sell on ebay under that name and also have a website with that name. I wish I would have used that name on mylot, but when I joined I wasn't sure how it was going to be and I want to keep that name legit and good. Enjoy the kids while you can, they do grow up so fast. Have fun..

Grandson - Enjoying ythe fresh air as wll as the firetruck
Sometimes they take turns. Sometimes I take turns. HAHAHA! The youngest was just upset that Tyler had to brag about the fun he had with me was all. But that's okay it'll be Hunters turn to brag all too soon. Here's another photo of Tyler (8) on the firetruck at the racetrack. I guess earlier I though he was 9. HAHAHA!! Grandpa's mind is going away. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

It is so much fun to have the grandkids around. They do get a little jealous of one another though. My grandson Troy has stayed with us more than any of the other grandkids. It is hard for the older grandkids to understand that he actually was living with us. They felt that he got special treatment because he spent more time with us. I do divie up my time with all of the grandkids. I don't want any of them to feel bad.

That's a bummer. But it seemed it would be hard for him to undertand. I don't see it as special treatment just because one does more with each grandkid. It's hard figuring what to do a lot of times with each one. Especially when you ask, "What do you want to do today?" And you get "I dunno" HAHAHA. But it was fun and now looking forward to Hunters visit in the near future. Take care and have a great day/evening also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

A grandpa's work is never done is it? It's so cool that the boys love to come and stay with you. That means that you are an awesome grandpa! That, and you probably spoil them rotten. LOL

Grandpa Bob, isn't it wonderful to spoil the grandkids and then send them back home? That is what my parents say. I think that is fantastic that you are spending time with the grandsons individually and making them feel special. But I am sure they wear you out! hahaha! Well, glad you had a good time, now for some much needed rest!

It sounds like you just made the whole experience way too fun for your grandson, Grandpa Bob! :) Is that possible to have way too much fun? I suppose it is if the younger grandson/brother wants to have a one-on-one with grandpa, too! It sounds like you are a great grandpa to your grandson. Why not give the younger one some of the same, only on a lesser scale geared to his age? It's hard for parents to manage their jobs and having fun with their kids (which some of them COULD do if they penciled it in, but...), so I guess that's what us grandparents are for--to fill in the gaps and make a kid feel loved, as well as able to be responsible. Good job, Grandpa Bob!

It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your grandson. Yes, its only fair if the other one gets to spend time with you too.lol. I will have to worry about that soon enough but right now I don't. My grandson's are 3 1/2 and 14 months. But I still feel bad if I take one somewhere and not the other.

Hi Grandpa Bob, I'm very happy for you, that you were able to have your grandson spend this time with you. 'Most' kids really love sleepovers of this sort, and especially when they get to spend quality time with family, and have outings etc. I'm sure you'll have an equally great time when your youngest grandson visits. Have a wonderful day.:)

I made Tyler clean up his mess with the paper airplanes and toys Sunday morning before his mom & brother came out. Now they made more and Monday morning I found about 10 of the airplanes on the stairs leading to the basement. HAHAHA! I love the boys and love spending time with them without their mother around. So do they it seems. Even little kids need a break from their parents I feel & I give them that break. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Awesome. I'm glad you all had a good time and could enjoy each other. I'm sure you'll have fun with the younger one too. This story made my eyes just a bit wet. I lost my grandparents 10 years ago and I miss them terribly. I was extremely close to them. I spent more time at their house than I did my own. It was more like home. I even called them mom and dad. :o)

That's great that you have enjoyed your grandson's visit! It sounds like he had a blast also. I can remember back visiting my grandparents in the summer. It was fun and you got to find some unique things to do to keep you busy and from getting bored. Have a good one!

Oh this is wonderful—A lot of my favorite memories growing up are of staying with my grandparents- We played a lot of games- and went to Bingo- Went to state parks for walks and to look at trees- I miss my grandparents greatly—so enjoy this time with the grandkids- And yes it’s only fair for the younger one to come now- My daughter loves to spend time at her grandparents- And I love her to also- Bonding time!

yes i was thinking of the other grandson who's also in the picture. his brother must be telling him all the great stories of his fun birthday weekend with grandpa and grandma. it's great that the older one is such a great help. there are too many kids these days who are lazy and used to being little princes and princesses whose parents do everything for them. there is this horrible culture of domestic help in singpaore where the maids do everything and I've seen some kids order their maids around which is deplorable. they have no respect for elders.
