Why do men have favourite shirts!

I am in deep trouble yet again. I am sure my father in law sits there and thinks things up on purpose. They have been home for 30 hours as he has to go to the hospital tomorrow. It is now teeming with rain here. And I have not laundered his favourite shirt which he wishes to wear to the hospital tomorrow. We have a modern washing machine/dryer to he has said too early - I CAN do it! Which probably means that next time he will leave it longer but at least I will have asked "is there anything you need laundered urgently" before I let him cross the threshhold. It isn't stopping him grumbling that I should have thought and no, I am not going to try the logical approach about not being psychic etc. I just hope the wretched thing doesn't disintegrate in the wash, I am so cross I am practically radio active!

its a male thing. i have numerous items which i luve to wear. but my life won't come to an end if they are in the laundry basket. but my partner has favoutrite shirts and trousers. and the world WILL come to an end if they are not laundered , freshly ironed and hung nicely in his wardrobe !! we had a count up recently and discovered he has enough shirts and trousers for him to last him at least 28 days !! but still he has his favourite items. all i can suggest to the father in law, that suggest to him in the strongest possible terms, that you need a little notice when he needs his favourite or best clothing,. either that, or this is the nasty side to me. drop itching powder in his underwear drawer !! that'll teach him.

Yup, he has plenty of clothes too, we have made sure of that, he has been given about three quarters of his wardrobe by us. The itching powder is tempting but I would never hear the last of it. Naturally it would be blamed on a mega flea infestation caused by my poor house keeping!

I dont know but maybe because there are shirts that they feel that if they are wearing them they are very much good looking. :) Maybe you can talk to your father in law that is teh only way I see taht you could solve your problem. Just be honest. Tell him the situation... just do it politely and with love... :)

He knows the situation. As soon as they have eaten I ask if there is anything that needs doing immediately as I have a washer dryer and it can be ready in hours. He truly does do it to be awkward.

Old people are like that. Most are forgetful and tempermental when they thing things should be done a certain way.

I know some elderly people are forgetful, but he really is awkward! I always ask if anything is needed, and he does bring his laundry to me and I do it willingly. Just lately if he can cause controversy he does, my partner thinks he gets bored in our home, so there is the question, why not stay busy in his own home . . .

Oh sometimes I wish you were over here to sort him out! Would be very interesting, to say the least. Yup, he is at it again. He managed to use the best towels to wipe car grease from his hands as well on this visit!

Believe it or not I actually have TWO towel rails in my bathroom, one for best and one by the sink for grubbies. So there really is no excuse!
