Are any of you members of MoveOn.org? Yes, it's a "liberal" organization so I don't want to offend any of your righties, but if you DO lean a bit to the left on any number of issues this is a great group to sign up for, and it's FREE. Of course, they do ask for donations from time to time but that's optional and I personally haven't paid a cent...couldn't if I wanted to right now, I'm BROKE...LOL...
Anyway, they're planning a nationwide (US) peace vigil on Aug. 28 and they're looking for hosts and participants. To be a host doesn't mean you have to invite people to your home, you can just pick a public spot in your town or get permission if needed to use a parking lot or whatever. They'll post your location for you so local people know where to go. All you need is a candle or lighter and yourself...if the weather stays like it is now where I am, you'll also need an umbrella or raincoat...LOL Check out http://www.moveon.org for more info.

I don't like Moveon.org, simply because it was founded by a couple of millionares who can afford the best of propoganda. I don't trust propoganda from either side.. I do tend to lean towards the left in my social views. But I am not a complete leftists. I definately consider myself a centrist.
Move on does more than just protest the war. They are an extreme left group who are against everything on the right. I think we should ditch all the parties and work together as a nation to get things done.
I've been voting independent lately. If hilary gets the dem nom and Guiliani doesn't get the rep nom, I'll be going independent in 08 also.

I consider myself "a centrist who leans a little more than slightly to the left" if that makes any sense..lol I would love to see us, maybe not completely "ditch" all parties but to definitely be less partisan and, as you said work together as a nation. We shouldn't all be so divided over left or right, Democrat or Republican, blue state or red...we are all Americans and we're all people first and foremost. By your last sentence can I assume you're for Guiliani?

One more thought. Until this time in my life, I have never had a personal reason to vote for a certain candidate. I can't stand hilary. Simply because, as a woman, I would never do what she has done. I my husband blatently cheated on me on numerous occasions, I would not keep him just so that I could enhance my political life. I see her as disengenuious

he he, didn't see this one. Good point on the howard dean thing, touche' miss. I think this moveon thing could really hurt though, maybe it was a waste of legislative time for that vote, but I think the dems could have at least said yeh, it was wrong of moveon.org, would it really have hurt them, other than in the contribution wallet? The report the general gave, was not a poilitical thing, nor is he really in a political role. The report he gave congress was far from rose and sugar covered. It was a very frank and honest view of how things are going with the surge, militarily and security speaking and a friend of mine who was there on 2 tours, voluntarily, told me the same thing, wasn't all rosie, but was working, the general wasn't serving lip to apease the president.
Now, lets see, my choice for republican candidate. Still uindecided, but I've narrowed it down a bit. I like Guliani, he is proven leadership under fire and I've seen how he responds under pressure and I saw nothing short of amazing leadership. Granted, it was only NYC but one cannot ignore the amazing acomplishments there. I like Ron Paul alot, I am only haing trouble reconciling his isolationist views in todays world climate, i just don't think he's realistic about a lot of things with foriegn policy. But he has character, integrity and a get r done kinda mentality, a very no nonse aproach to government and I love his olde tyme (cute spelling huh) constitutional aproach to government. That leaves Fred Thompson, another good federalist and old fasioned constitutional government advocate. I think he is probably a little more realistsic on foriegn policy, I live in new hampshire, home of live free or die (at least untill the residential hostile take over by massichusits) and we still do government the old fasioned way, our state house is a citizen legislature, which means its a part time job for reps, the go for a few sessions, collect a few hundred dollars for the year and return home to thgeir families, jobs and communities. I will support which ever candidate wins the republican nomination unless an interesating independant comes along.
