I just recieved an email from a friend of mine. She let her kids use the magic eraser to get marker off of the wall and kids being kids he rubbed the eraser on his face and arms. It contains a chemical that can burn your skin. She had to call posion control because of this her son was in so much pain from it. They made her put him in a tub of cool water for 20 minutes to rinse the chemicals off of his skin. They still had to go to the hospital to make sure the chemical was off of his skin and if it was bad enough to have to remove tissue. Very luck that they did not. She said it already started to heal but wanted to warn everyone of this. Keep this out of the reach of children.

I use the magic erasers every once in a while. I never give them to the kids to use though. My husband and I are the only ones that use it. But thanks for the warning.

Wow I wonder if it is clearly posted on the container of this danger. I have only tried it one time and was not satisfied with it as it was to small. But nice heads up on yet another product that we might leave on our sinks and young children could get a hold of.

This is something that all parents should be aware of. Cleaning products are best in the hands of adults. I can not pictureing me giving a five or six year old a chemically treated sponge. I would also not think that the sponge would be that dangerous either. I do think that parents need to be very carefull what they give their children. I am glad the child is going to be alright. The only thing I ever gave my daughter to clean with or wipe up with was a rag with soap on it or just a plain papertowel. Until she was about ten or so I cleaned up after her most of the time. I know I am over protective of her. She is now sixteen and always telling me how I need to let her grow up but it is so hard. I have to say also that I have been very lucky. I have never spent any time in the Hospital emergency room with her either.
Accidents happen and thank God this one was not bad. Always read boxes and containers before alowing a child to use something.
