The NET versus Anonimity

Have you thought about it that the Net is one big Archive? And that everything that you write, or post, and pictures or videos will be there for a very, very long time? And have you also thought about it that if you make the wrong decision you could be very sorry that all of a sudden everyone is talking about you, and what you said, or did on that particular video, or photo? While looking and sending to a list of friends this particular photo or video of you? Sure, for people that want to be famous it is a great opportunity, but for the majority of others it could be a disaster in disguise. What do you think in regards? And are you careful not to post on youtube something that might become compromising?

It's definitely something to think about. I don't post videos and I try never to post personal information. Can you just picture someone from YouTube growing up to be a politician, and then someone dredges up an embarrassing video he/she did on You Tube?

Hi AmbiePam, this is my point exactly...what you pointed above :) You know here in The netherlands a girl of 18years old made a confession on TV that she slept with a guy way older than her (and the guy is a known personality and married!!!) he was so angry that she told this on TV and about the consequenses it would have for his married life... Now it is 2 years later and this piece of intervew on TV is still going around online, youtube and other sites have it...

Oh wow! I don't feel sorry for him, but it sure ruined his wife and that girl's life. I feel really sorry for the jilted wife. I can't imagine the trauma she has experienced.

Hi again, and of course I am sorry for the wife as well, however, this girl acted toospontaneously in the intervew, and didn't think that she will be very sorry later on (as it is not really a nice thing for her that she is ruining marriages, since she knew what she was doing, and that the guy was married and with children,)and who will want her after such a thing on every PC so to say? This is really a very important thing to think about before you do or place any thing that could ruin you, or your reputation later on in life...so better not act too quickly, and spontaneously when placing comments, photo's videos. or doing intervews on TV (as it will be online very shortly )

Well since I don't as of yet, have the capability to post videos at YouTube it's not a problem, but even if I did I would never post just any old thing...it IS amazing what some people do post there though. I never thought of the Net as one big archive until now...great image! So like everything we do whether do blogs, post pictures, do websites will be here for just about all time--kind of nice in a way when you think of it..as long as it's quality things

Hi Pyewacket :) Well, I do have several videos made but all of a sudden i am not willing to go and place these on YouTube. When and if you get sorry for having these there you could always take them off again, BUT you never know how many have downloaded the videos in the time these were there for the taking. And yes, it didn't occur to me before either that the Net is the biggest Archive ever invented ;)

Actually I am quite paranoid about Internet security, and never say, do, or post anything compromising in any way on the Net. If you notice, I won't even post my photo here on myLot! My avatar is one of my cats, Sasha, and the only pics on my profile page are of my cats! I would never put photos of myself or my family on the Internet - neither would I ever oublish my private email address, my home address, or put anything on YouTube. There are so many hackers around, and also stalkers and "weirdos" - best to be safe than sorry I think!
