The crazy people are back

Ok so this weekend started off pretty good. Our town is having its local fair and so everyone is in high spirts and looking forward to having a good time, or so it seemed. On our way to the fair we passed the crazy Jesus freaks standing on the sidewalk holding signs and damn near toppling people over to get their attention. They were protesting the fair and all it stood for. Which to me is the dubmest thing I have ever heard considering the fair is sponsered by the local hospitals and blood banks. The money from the fair goes to the childrens hospital and a few of the local free clinics to keep them running. I kidd you not these people were seriously going nuts, there was a guy chasing people with a bible. What is wrong with these damn people? Its people like this that make people not want anything to do with these religions. I seriously think they needed to be arrested for disturbing the peace and harrassment. Ok thats my rant.

People like that bug the crap out of my way. If they get agressive with me, I just push past them and move on. I will not give them any of my attention, except to physically move them, if they block me. I don't need to put up with their crap. Sadly every religion has it's extremeists.

I just couldn't believe that they were out doing it. I was like what the hell. Part of me wanted to just drive up on the sidewalk and run the little freaks over.

Delusional, irrational, "crazy" people love religion. It provides them cover and an excuse for their behavior and illogical words. Afterall, if God Himself is saying you should do something or say something, how can it possibly be wrong? This can be summed up in the following way. People who think God told them something believe they are never wrong, no matter what.

Of course, athesists can not be told they are wrong. Their positions that the creator of the universe does not exist is as illogical as the beliefs of the worse religious zealot fanatic. This does not change the fact that "crazy" people are attracted to religion in greater numbers than other people. The evidence abounds for this. This also does not mean all religious people are "crazy". I believe in God, but am not "crazy" as I assume you are not either.

I believe in God, but am not "crazy" as I assume you are not either. Ha ha well that assumption can be debatable. I do have my moments :oP I thank you for clarifying and I must admit I so took your reply wrong. I apologies for that. I just came from three atheist posts bashing those of us that have faith, and well I mistook your reply. I am a "live and let live" person with many friends in life and cyber world that have various beliefs as well as none. People that bash either group bother me to no end. So I reckon I read your post with a chip on my shoulder. I am sorry and I stand corrected. You do have a point, yes many fruit-loops are attracted to religion in greater numbers than anything else it seems. Again I offer my apologies. Just give me a cyber kick, I deserve it. LOL

LOL, and do you really think Atheists can be told they are wrong????? I think people in general have a hard time accepting their flaws and there is no way we can point fingers at just one group.

What could they possibly have against the fair? Is having a good time a sin now too? If that's the case, then I'm glad I'm not a christian. You should stop and ask them if they ever used the free clininc or the childrens hospital or if they ever plan to and if yes then they need to shut the hell up. I'm all for freedom of speech and the right to demonstrate but damn, these people are taking it too far.

People like this seriously need to be arrested for harrassment or something. I can't stand this kind of behavior, from people of any religion or ideal. It's not like it's going to win people to their cause either, it just makes everyone hate them. What a sad way to disrupt a fair that was for an actual good cause.

This is a very interesting discussion. Everyone has made some really good points in think. What I've never been able to figure out about fanatics like this no matter what they're beliefs are is if it's so important to them to "convert" others to their way of thinking (which is a waste of time in most cases and I don't know why they feel that need!) at least why not do something positive instead of disrupting other people's day? Hey, if you want to get someone to switch to your church why not show them all the good things your church does? Everyone has their own beliefs anyway, so why try to change them to begin with! If there is a God who is full of love, etc. I don't think He would approve of the actions of those you've described here. Annie

oh i hate those ppl. they sometimes get rude and pushy enough to actually grab you and try to steer you away from what they are protesting!! i saw one guy do that and get punched! it was funny. lol it shoudnt be but it was! do you know WHY they are protesting the fair? if the proceeds go to the childrens hospital and such HOW can that be bad?! its not like our fair where its a private company that comes thru and puts the fair on and leaves for the next town. with nothing going to anybody except the local vendors that buy a spot in the big building. cant remember what they call it..where they sell mops and cookware and all kinds of jewelry and misc stuff lol. jeezu..surely nobody thinks that there shouldnt be a childrens hospital right?!

There were other factions saying the same thing, but yea I get what you are saying Fighting. It's just plain out there from my perspective. You have the right to speech, you don't have the right to harass and disturb people.

We have a fairie festival every year in a city nearby. It doesn't raise money for any good cause that I am aware of but is a lot of fun and just a great time. The first time we went we were standing in line to go in and a bunch of people were protesting the festival. They told us that the drums they were beating were the same ones used to sacrifice infants in Africa. They said that we were all going to hell. (I said back that at least we would have some good saturdays before that happened and that their Godly saturdays would suck since they were spending them protesting other peoples' fun) They just wouldn't give up. They were screaming at people and telling our children awful and completely untrue things. Thank goodness they didn't go in to the festival or they would have just ruined the whole experience. I don't understand why some people feel the need to throw things in other peoples faces like that. They were wasting a perfectly beautiful saturday and our time. Everyone going there was going for the awesome music, great food and fun time. There were no creepy ceremonies going on. I guess the tea party/story time might have had some subliminal ungodly message involved, lol! Anyway, it was one of the most enjoyable festivals I have even been to and the most amazing part was how clean everyone was. Everyone respected the property and the fact that someone was going to have to clean up. The grounds were so clean that it was hard to imagine thousands of people going through there in one weekend. People really should mind their own business instead of sticking their noses where they don't belong. Really, what do they expect? That someone they are chasing is going to turn around and say, "you know what? You are totally right!"? They are nuts if they think it is going to matter. And I highly doubt that God thinks it is ok to harass people.

I'm a Christian and I fully believe in Jesus and the Bible. So, my question is this. When did a fair, especially one for a good cause, become something that was against Jesus or the Bible? The fair was for the local clinics and the Children's hospital, right? So, when did it become a sin to do something to help out hospitals. I'm sorry, but I don't recall it saying anything in the Bible about not helping people. I think those people need to seriously reread the Bible.

Fortunatly we have freedom of assembly here in the USA. UNfortunatly that means for everyone. If they were hurting or physically contacting people then they crossed the line and the police should have been called. One thing you could have done to annoy them is made your own signs to counteract theirs. For example. god against fair=god against Childrens Hospital. or god against protesters. btw what kind of fair was it? I'm guessing maybe a renisounce (bad spelling) fair? I can see where the nuts I mean bible thumpers...I mean so called chritsains might be against that. Since that has to do with magical fantasy. They don't like people beleiving in other fanyasy things.

It was just a carnival type fair thats held every year for festival days around here. They have differnt shops and shuch come out and set up stands and it is sponsered by the blood bank, the local hospitals and the childens hospital. They had some shows and things pony rides for the kids and carnival rides set up. The protesters weren't out there today though, not sure if it was because its Sunday or if they were told not to come back. Either way it was peaceful and people were able to enjoy themselves today.

I know that where I live they would have been arrested. I cannot understand why your local law authorities did nothing to stop a potentially dangerous situation.

So they were protesting a fair that benefits kids .. there are so many things wrong with that scenario that if I was there, I'd probably end up using their signs against them as a weapon. Free speech is great when the people doing the speaking have two functioning brain cells clanking around in their skull.

I have never heard of anything like this before, da. Was there a specific reason that they were targeting the fair? Seems to me that they were overzealous, to say the least. I do think that sometimes people get carried away with the "freedom of speech" thing.

totally wrong interpretation of freedom of speech and assembly. bunch of distorted minds. they should all be banned from the streets. they just pollute the streets with their religious "hullballoes" which i believe most of them does not even know what they are talking.

Sorry to hear that Devil's angel. Those that have seen me post know I'm for free speech and individual action, but some of that was way too far. You can protest but you are not allowed to disturb, harass and pester people. And another thing, why is it not peaceful and respectful speech? You can believe yes. You can preach yes, but don't go around ramming down throats and tormenting others about it. Me personally, partially Christian, more so a free thinker(yea I'm still figuring it all out, but that's life and growing). Hopefully as an example, I can convince you not everyone on the side is nuts. Oh and I hope that even though that occurred, I hope people still have a good time at the fair. Just don't let the nutzoids get you down too much Dev. You have my support.
