Helping a friend.

I have a friend that I care about dearly.. I would do anything to help him/her but I come to realize that this friend may not really want my help. I have also come to realize that maybe I can't help my friend. My biggest cross in life is not being able to do enough for the one's I care about. I fall one inch too short or arrive one minute too late to help. I know one thing is certain that if someone is my friend, I will always walk the extra mile for them, give up my last coin for them, yes even sacrifice my life for them; but for all this there is one thing I cannot do for my friend.. and that is be them.. I have to be me.
