Care For A Slice Of Cold Turkey?

I'm starting to sweat, I'm starting to get 'bored' and I'm starting to go a little crazy! Why? Because not having the internet at home is like having a dose of cold turkey! I hate being cut off from my friends and from being to surf the net and promote my little businesses etc.. No internet, I can't earn extra money for my impending move! Ok at the time it was only 60 days without the internet but it's like having to fill the void where the internet was. Watching tv is ok but not for hours on end. Most of my plans for my big move are in place and I can't do much more now till the end of the month when things really start moving, the letters to the landlord etc, etc.... So have you ever done 'cold turkey' i.e not having the internet, or abstaining from bedroom duties (before marriage for example) Cold turkey is not nice! But now it's 33 days and I especially look forward to Tuesdays when I grab quality time to catch up with my sites and everyone!

Oh sweety that must be so hard for you! I know it can't be easy but the big countdown is moving on really quickly! I think my biggest cold turkey has been not being able to go to work for months on end now - I do know I will eventually get back to work but it is really hard meanwhile! xxx

It just shows how much you take things for granted and when they are not there BANG! It hits you! Although without the internet I have been doing jobs that I've been putting off like painting and filling holes LOL! xxx

Thank you my dear friend, I am using a lot of time in the gym and grabbing an hour here and there at the local library so I'm not completely isolated. With 29 days to go things will start speeding up rapidly and with my friends to support me it'll be well worth it ;0)

Well Wolfie, in a way I do know what your going through. Although I do have the internet. Its dial up and after having cable for years DIAL UP SUCKS!!! lopl. I cant play my favorite game, I cant go to youtube or make videos..about the only thing I can do is check emails and use my msn im. Sometimes if I'm lucky "Like today" I can come to mylot and post. But 90 percent of the time the stupid dial either crashes on me or its so slow i wait for half hour fo one page to load. So Yes I do know how you feel. But soon both of us will be back here and we can catch up with all of our friends. Hugs to my favorite Wolfie.

OMG!!! It is so wonderful to see you AGAIN, First tell me how the holiday at the Resort was ... did you enjoy it? I am sure you did. You have been really missed. Dear friend, I hope to never experience going without the internet, I don't think I would handle it welll, as is, I have problems handling not being online when the electricity goes out from the storms we have been having here in Texas. I would be so climbing the walls for those days to come again. So are you staying with your parents? Does your roommate know that you are not coming back yet? Do tell, we have missed you so much!

The retreat was wonderful! Back in November! I am still at home with housemate and it's 'uncomfortable' but I've put up with him for 4 years now so another 33 days is nothing is it. The big reward for 33 days is my Rhodes trip, so it's like I'm doing 'time' and getting my parole early October lol! Will be returning to my parents until I get myself sorted xxx

That stinks—no internet at home- It would be a killer- I’m not on a lot- but when I want to be on- it’s there- How are things going for you? All ready for the BIG adventure- I miss your discussions and your wit- I wish you still had your internet—hopefully when you get resettled—you’ll be back online- When I quit something- I take up something else- watching tv is ok- but like you said- not for long periods of time- gets boring! Go outside and walk- exercise- read-

Last year, before I joined Mylot, I had to go look after my Dad because he broke his arm. Even though I wasn't in Mylot I did belong to another site that requires daily visits. It wasn't too bad I guess, because I was away from home, but it was difficult filling in my time. Since joining Mylot, I've had a six day period away from the computer and when I returned there was a huge gap in my Mylot experience, I had missed so much of the day to day aspect of my friends lives but I was able to catch up. I'm on my computer for a good part of the day, it's become a way of life for me and if I'm not on I feel as though I'm missing out on a lot of things. Don't worry Wolfie, just count the days and then all the excitement and hullabaloo about the move will have settled and you will get back to normal reallly quickly. Just hang in there mate. :)

It's always hard to quit anything cold turkey, wolfie. I know what you must be going through. My bit of advice isto start doing research about anything you've ever wanted to know more about. It helps to pass the time and you get an added bonus by increasing your knowledge! I often do this when I become bored.
