I have seen endless copying of celebraties, their hair style, dress sence, walk, talk, and what not. Kids go ga ga over celebraties and try to ape them. At times they look so funny, but try telling them that. They will very calmly say, hey, its not of your generation, so you wont know. How can you talk sense into impressionable minds ?

Ofcourse, they affect the young minds.. Even I have many young people copy their idols, be it some sportsperson or a moviestar... They are bound to get affected since the kind of content that is shown to them appeals to them in big way... And of course, what have we gotta do about it, its their life, let them make it large...

Yes, the celebrities do influence the young a lot. They just copy everything of the celebrities. It may be their style, dressing or even their likings...! It is of no use to tell these young ones that this is not fair. They are not going to listen to you. On the contrary they starting hiding such things from you knowing that you do not like them.
One good way to tell them is that these celebrities are diffirent personalities and what they like or do is not necessarity good for the youngsters.

Definitely, I think that celebrities and television 'stars' influence many people, not just children;
especially those who don't yet have a real sense of what they're all about - they're still learning about themselves and the world around them, how to be and react in certain situations.
Considering that these people are 'rich & famous', they are almost instant role-models to these people who are figuring out 'what it's all about' if you know what I mean.
Unless they're doing something inappropriate or harmful to themselves or others, I don't think that you need to talk sense into them, it's not exactly a 'phase', but it is something that they will grow out of as they grow and learn =]
