Lasik vision correction for the bifocal set?

Is there anyone else here that's near or far-sighted, has astigmatism and also has reached the point in their lives where they need bifocals? I wore contacts for many years, starting with the old-fashioned "hard" lenses, then I wore the gas-permeable lenses for awhile, but they were never very comfortable and my vision wasn't as sharp as it could have been. I tried the soft lenses but due to my severe astigmastism I could never quite get a good fit, then I reached the point where I couldn't see small print at all with my contacts in so I finally went back to glasses and got the no-line multi-focal lenses. Most of this all took place before the popularity of Lasik surgery and I know they've made alot of advances in just the past couple years, so does anyone know if there's a procedure that will correct all of my vision problems or would I still need correction for either close up or distance? I know it's gotten much more affordable but I'd like to hear from someone with similar vision problems who's had it done. Thanks!
Annie

Sorry, anniepa, but I'm afraid I won't be much help to you on this. It seems that I have been in bifocals forever, LOL. My eye doctor told me long ago that I was not a good candidate for either no-line bifocals or contacts. It was due to some imperfection in one of my eyes. So, I have had to depend on regular bifocals. I have heard various sides of the Lasik controversy, some good and some bad. It would require a lot of thought before I would undergo this procedure.
