Do You Bite Your Nails? Why?

I don't bite my nails, never have had the habit. I have seen other people's fingers sometimes and it looks awful, even gross, when they bite them, so i don't. I don't know why they do it, maybe it's something nervous, but i have never felt the necessity to do it.

Hello wondericequeen, I prefer to have short nails and I don't think I have anything to bite *laughs* In fact, I don't like the idea of biting your nails especially in front of people. I never did that before and I don't think I am comfortable to bite my short nails. It will definitely makes my hands look very ugly.

I always bite my nails, I dont know why and I cant remember back how long I have been doing it.

I did it when I was small, but now stopped.if you have no other job just start biting the nails.

No I don't coz for me hands are the most prone to germs eventhough we try to wash it all over agian germs hiding inside the nails are still there. when I feel nervous I drink a lot tof water. But biting nails never my mom used to told me that when I'm still I kid.

I have never bitten my nails and it drives me nuts to see adults do this. In my first college psychology class we read a book describing habits such as biting nails, chewing pencil tips, smoking, and even chewing gum as sublimated mammary instincts. Whether their hypothesis was true or absurd, I was still horrified enough at the very thought of it to stop any such habits I had right then and there. I laugh when I think back to that time and how right after class I took a fresh stick of chewing gum out of my pocket and surreptitiously disposed of it in the nearest trash can.

No, I don't have this habit to bite my nails. It may be common for a kid to do so, but it's not suitable for an adult. It's better to do something to get rid of this habit.

I do not bite my nails and nor do I ever plan to. I think it is one of the most gross things someone can ever do. Nails have like a bajillion bacteria under them, and chewing on the nail means you are going to chew on the bacteria and that is just GROSS!!!!
