The Bicycle Thief...how does it compare today?

The Bicycle Thief made many "best of all time" lists in the 60s and the 70s. It is believed that it is an excellent film, but it ranked number one at this time because it had been re-released and was on people's minds. How do you think The Bicycle Thief stacks up today? Firstly, it will always have its place among films of the period, but how do you think it compares to films of the past 30 years. Would you rank the Bicycle Thief in the top two or three films of all time, or has it been unseated? Support your opinion.

I love this movie. even compared to its constant companions in top 10 films lists. It has inspired a lot of realism films of today with non-actors. A diverse rollercoaster of emotions are expressed in a period of less than a week, more even than some epics depicting decades. And the ending is still amazingly poignant no matter how many times I've watched it.
