I love sugar free candy and there's a huge choice out now days. I'm a diabetic so I have to chose the sugar free. Years ago, when I first became a diabetic, this wasn't so. The market has improved a great deal and so has the choices. I do have to warn you though... There's an ingredient called sorbital you have to watch out for... too much of it can end you up in the bathroom for a while. There are warning on the labels so pay attention!

Thanks for the tip! My mother was just diagnosed with type 2 diabeties and she's a candy lover (me too!) so I'm looking for things I can keep in the house to keep her away from the sugary sweets.

Just remember...everything in moderation when it comes to some of the sugar free candy. If you read the label, it will say it will cause laxative effect...:(

I've had the Russell Stovers sugar-free chocolate caramel turtles and prefer them to the regular ones, pretty tasty.

I don't mind sugar free candy at all. I'm not sure if it's because I've just gotten used to the taste or becuase I will take candy any way I can get it.
One thing to be minful of is xorbitol (or whatever the stuff they use to make it still tastes sweet) can have some um...laxitive effects if you eat too much.
I foud thisout the hard way after eating too many sugar free Red Vines (which are really good bt the way). So even sugar free cady should be eaten in moderation.

*smiles* I don't eat candies so I don't really have tasted anything sugar free ones. My friend did taste some sugar free ones and he said they tasted like cra@p! But I don't know, if I am going to have candies (not overdosing myself), I wouldn't mind if it's not sugar free once in a while.

LOL... some of it does tasty pretty c@appy! But some of it tastes better than the sugar ones. I try not to eat candy but I can't help it! I do eat less then when I worked in an office, I was always the girl with the huge candy jar on her desk. Now at home I don't feel the need and I'll have yogurt instead if I feel I need a snack. I've gotten better at judging when I'm hungry and when I'm just needing something to do.

I love the Weight Watchers candies and the brocks sugar free candies. I do not eat very much of them because of the cost of them.
LA Weight Loss has snack bar that is good that is sugar free.

I am a candieaholic which makes controlling my weight a problem.
Years a go when I would try anything sugar free it would just flat out be horrible. Usually have some kind of nasty aftertaste or have the textural consistency of play dough. Nowadays that's not the case - whether it's because my taste buds aren't so finicky or because they've just gotten better at making them taste sweet I don't know.
One of my absolute favorite sugar free snacks is Jell-O Sugar-free pudding. Talk about yummy! Add sugar free cool whip to that and who's "dieting"?
Baskin Robins, Jolly Ranchers, Russell Stouffers and Weight Watchers all make very good good sugar free hard candies.
I came across a brand of sugar free cookies that were just wonderful but can't remember the name of it; smaller blue and white packages.
However, STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR FREE FINES by REDVINES! When they put on their lable "excess consumption may have a laxative effect" they WERE NOT KIDDING! A package only contains 21 5" vines. At only 270 calories for the whole bag eating the whole bag is not a difficult thing to do. (I just love red licorice!) Also, 21 pieces of candy is not what I would call "excessive" consumption. But a couple hours after I ate those 21 pieces, I spent the better part of the next three hours on the toilet with diarrhea and the remaining evening with horrible flatulence. But on the other hand, if you're looking to quickly get rid of lunch....
So to those sugar-free snack lover out there enjoy, but beware of the RedVine!

Whether I like it or not, sugar free things give me very nasty, embarrassing gas, or headaches, or both. Any sweetener that ends with "-ol" tends to give gas, or diarrhea for most people. I like splenda in things, but do not use it, as it gives me the same problem.

Hmm I'm not sure...I know I must have had it at one point...I just don't remember specifically what I've had! Lol I would assume that it wouldn't taste all that bad, since other sugar and fat free things aren't that bad...but you never know. It all depends on the brand I guess.

I do eat this though I can have the regular. My mom cannot so I try to buy it for her and will have some with her occasionally. By far my favorite is Coco Via brand. We both love all the flavors. It is a bit more expensive, but isn't all the sugar free candy? We also love the Russell Stover candies. Very good and hardly different than the sugared stuff.
