farting in public

what is the proper response when you're in an elevator and the person you're in it with farts and it smells super disgusting. I usually act like I don't smell it, but I get sick of trying to have nice manners when people keep losing their manners!

I would hold my breath and pretend nothing has happened. I do not want to embarass the person who fart. I feel that you should keep your good manners with you despite others are behaving differently.

well the person you are with would probably get very embarrased if you said something, but it would make them more cautious about farting in public. say something like "what is that smell? its probably some bad cooking!" thats what my friend says. it might not be the proper response, but it is funny!
