Okay I need help Deciding...Maybe you can help me. This is three sections out of one chapter in the novel I am working on. The two characters it involves are the two main Characters. Now I do Know for a fact that, after they make up its short lived and after a while they don't see each other for 7 years... However I can not decide what their fate should be, by the end of they book should I give them what they want and put them together. Or should they never be really "destined" to be together. Maybe you all can help me decide. " "A penny for your thoughts?" a voice said from behind. "He spun around and looked at her, his eyes dark with rage. "Don't you start that crap again! My thoughts are my business!" he spat spitfully. "Crash?" She cried. "I am the laughing stalk of my friends because of you. You made me change! How dare you." he screamed. Tears had filled Doodles eyes. "I didn't change you, thats who you always were in your heart." she said. "I love you, and you told me a million times you love me too." "I made a mistake I don't love you! I don't love anyone! I can't be with you anymore." He yelled. The others had come out and were watching them. "I'm the one you're meant for and you're going to come back to me. So sure, break up with me now, but I'm telling you, you'll be back. You'll be back when you realize that you broke up with the one girl who was meant to be with you. But see, the thing is, you just better hope the girl is still there." she cried. "We have no destiny, it was all just empty promises I gave you to catch the frog." he said, but regreted it the minute he did."Sometimes you just have to hold your head up high, blink away the tears and say good-bye." With that he walked away. He watched her go down the path with the others. He slapped his head. Stupid moron, how could you hurt her like that! He ran to catch up to her, he had to fix it. * Crash knew she was angry with him, he also knew it was his fault. He knew he had deserved each and every ball that flew his way. What got to Crash most felt like a thousand daggers in his heart, as he watched Doodle flirt with his brother. Pumpkin seemed to be flirting back, grabbing her, and making her laugh. It was like a bomb blew up in Crash he was on fire. He threw the pool cue across the room, and marched up to his brother, grabbing him by the collar and bringing him inches to his face. "YOU LITTLE....! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" He screamed. "Crash! Let him go! What's your problem? You don't want me, but no one else can have me either?" She cried. Crash turned to her. "Don't want you? If I didn't want you I wouldn't be this upset. I was angry! I didn't mean anything I said, I didn't even know what I was saying." He said. "Either way it doesn't matter, I hate you Crash! I hate you more then anyone else in the world." She screamed. The words cut him, and cut him deep tears filled his eyes. "I know I hurt you, but you have to believe me when I say, I love you." he said. "Sometimes Crash, loves not enough." she said. He looked around the room, he had attacked his brother, and had this agruement, something that should be private in front of all these people. Embarrassed he walked out. He had hurt the only girl he ever loved. He would do anything to get her back. He knew eventually he could it would just take alot of time. He felt empty inside, like a piece of him was missing. * "Sir I don't have a bible." She said. Crash passed her his with out looking up and she noticed the page was already marked. "Well you do now, please read." he said. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." She said, and her mouth became dry. She felt like she would Cry. "Crash after hearing all this what is your opinion on love?" The teacher asked. Crash looked up for the first time. "To me sir, love is not having to say your sorry." He said. Doodle felt sick, she raised her hand. "Yes Doodle?" The teacher asked. "I don't feel very well, may I be excused." She said. "As you wish." He replied. She got up, and went out side, sat down on the church lawn. Why did this affect her so, was it because it confirmed everything Crash had ever did, and prove to her that he did love her, the way she did he. Yet he made one mistake and she was willing to throw that all away. Still she was angry with him and didn't know how to forgive him for what he had said to her. Thoughs hurtful words came pouring back into her mind. Something covered her eye's and a voice whispered in her ear. " A penny for your thoughts?" The light came back and Crash had sat directly across from her, his face inches from hers. He looked into her eyes, and she looked back into his. "I love you, not for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you." He said. She smiled slightly. "Crash, if I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand." She said, he laughed. But never broke the eye contact he had. " Doodle, Sometimes I may hate you, yell at you and say things I don't mean, but I'll always love you" He said. "Why do you Crash, I'm just another person...not special...not really." She replied. He smiled, but still never broke that eye contact, he didn't dare, not just yet any way. "To the rest of the world, you may only be just another person Doodle, but to me you are my world." He said. "You always could say the sweetest things." She laughed. Silence lay between them for a few moments, time just seemed to stand still as they looked into each others eyes. "Its really quiet." She said. "Do you know what the most Eloquent silence is?" Crash asked inching forward, closer to her. "Whats that?" She asked, softly, their lips only millimeters from each other. "that of two mouths.." his lips brushed hers and pulled back."meeting...." again his lips slightly brushes hers and he pulled back once more. "in a..."his lips bushed hers once again, and once again pulled back.." kiss" he breathed as he finally kissed her. "

It sounds very good. It also sounds like they probably break up and marry different people and settle for second best, but still think about the other. I dont think they are content in their marriages and when they meet up again so many years later they are both divorced, older and wiser, with a lot of 'what ifs' and are curious about their alternative futures if they had stayed together. It could also happen that curiousity gets the better of them and they end up rekindling the passion that once was, and because they are older they appreciate each other a lot more and are better together than they ever were!!

Thank you for your response. It it also very funny that you would say this. This story is loosely based on true events. these two characters are really based on two people I know, a love they once had, and they did go their seperate ways, do to certain things that happened, and that was were I was leading up to eventually. the first part you said is close to the way the story seems to lean so far. Ironically, The second half of your suggestion is close to the alternate ending I had in mind.... Like I said, I am not sure, whether to in the end give them what the truely want...or make it so they never get the "fairy tale ending." You have made me think very hard about, going the way I had been thinking about while writing that chapter.

I would probably say what a lot of people would expect, a fairy tale ending, but it would be too obvious and not hold peoples attention for too long. I would put a tragic twist at the end..... Make it a tear jerker!!!! But thats only me!!! You have my attention though, so please let me know how it ends.
