Must Be The Dye... Computer Question, Need Help!!!

I know right, this is one of the very first times i've ever been dumbfounded when it comes to a computer problem... A friend of mine is having some problems with hers, she's going to have a friend look at it some time over the weekend but it's always nice to have a little bit of knowledge, i've searched this over the net and found little to no information on it, and the stuff that i did find, didn't help her one bit. Here's the scoup: When she's typing the cursor begins to jump all over the place making her work over and over again just to get one sentence down, sometimes it takes 8 or 9 times just to get one line done. She's frustrated, and i'd like to be able to help her out with it, but what i have found is doing stuff like hitting control 6, then rebooting - didn't help Virus, we scanned her computer with several scanners and she has no viruses or spyware to speak of, so didn't work, and well, now i just don't know what to say or try to help her out, so if anyone knows how to get a darn dell computer from having the cursor jump all over the place while one is trying to type stuff out, please do respond to this and tell me what you've found. One thing i did find is it's something well known among techs, but i'm no tech, just a tech's daughter and sorry, i'm not asking my father. i'm sure it has something to do with the internal settings, possibly drivers, and takes just a few minutes to fix, but looks like the techs like to make their money off of fixing it, so they don't share the secret behind fixing it.
