Did any of you hear about Thumper on the news? He is a black labrador retriever, who saved his master's life when a fire broke out in his home in Maine. The man said his wife and their 7 year old grandson were out of the house when the fire started in their apartment. Thumper grabbed at the sleeping man's arm and pulled on him until he woke up. He managed to call 911 and then get out of the house. (He should have left and then called 911) But while the dog is the hero...the cat is the bad guy Fire investigators thing the fire started because of Princess...the family cat....when she knocked over a lantern. Kerosene leaked out and was ignited by the wick in the lantern. Princess burned her tail, but everyone else got out safely.

Good Dog!! Stupid Cat!! LOL Im glad they all got out. And the guy should have gotten out then called 911. I tought my kids that there 3 and 5. You run to the neighbors tell them your house is on fire so they can call 911. And I told them never to go back in the house. The dogs will follow you out. Fire is a scary thing!!

I agree with you! Our house burned 6 years ago. It was a scary time for us, even though none of us were home. When the fireman told us that there was evidence of several "flash fires" and if the us or the kids had been at home, then they might or might not have gotten out alive.

Good going Thumper!! I really don't think the cat is the bad guy, it is whomever left a kerosene lamp burning and not putting it somewhere where the cat could get at it! Personally, I would not go to sleep or leave my house with a kerosene lamp burning. It all worked out okay, except for the fire damage in the apartment and the poor cat that got it's tail burned! PEACE

saturday, we had a fall festival for the kiddos at our church. About 3 hours into it, I began to worry that I had left a candle burning on my stove. I couldn't remember for the life of me if I'd blown it out or not. I called my mom who lives near me and asked her to go check, as she has a key to my home. I had blown it out, but there was peace in my heart knowing for sure!

Animals are wonderful creatures, I don't think we people give them enough credit and I really think they get a raw deal in life, in defence of princess the family cat, I think the people themselves should take the blame for this one as it is a very silly thing to go to bed with a kerosene lamp going, I think we all should respect animals a lot more than we do....
