Now I've heard everything! A stripper apparently hurt her back pole dancing, a herniated disk. Now she's been awarded workman's compensation for her injury. I don't think I've ever heard anything like this one!

Actually, when you think about it.... she was injured while doing her job.
I can see where workman's comp would be justified.
Just because the job she was doing is not considered a normal type of job, she did make her living that way and it would be covered under workman's comp.

Well it's really no different than a construction worker getting workman's comp because he fell off a roof he was working on. A job is a job, it shouldn't matter what it is. If a person gets hurt while working they have a workman's comp claim regardless of whether they wear clothes at work or not. A dancer knows she could hurt herself pole daning and the club owners know that their employees are taking risks when they do those tricks...just like when I was a cook at a restaurant, I knew burns came with the territory and so did the boss.
This is an unusual story though! You don't hear of many strippers wanting to go so public with their chosen profession.

A job is a job is a job and why shouldnt someone in the entertainment industry NOT be entitled to the same as a construction worker...If it was a Las Vegas showgirl in a big well to do hotel nobody would think twice about it...Sad really...We're ppl too ya know LOL
And for the record..someone mentioned righting off implants as a job expense, thats actually quite common....I got my implants AFTER I retired from stripping but when I did my taxes I would right off my work clothes/costumes/shoes, make up, traveling costs, food while on the road and so on....

Bad enough that she has to work at such a degrading job, it would be really terrible if she was also not protected by the law the same as everyone else is at the workplace.
If she was a ballet dancer who hurt herself while performing, no one would have even thought twice about her entitlement to compensation.

I am a very compassionate person Esther but she had no businss doing what she did.If you get yourself in that position then something bound to happen..To me this is Funny...Wonder who's next on the pole? I have had a herniated disk before, and i can tell you from experience she won't be pole dancing for a very long time....Workmans comp only last a while anyway, she might end up having to get a real job..Yu think?

Nothing surprises me anymore. Now that I've said that, something comes up and does surprise me. Life just isn't what it used to be anymore where we were more respectful and ladylike. Those days have flown out the window.

The strip club should have carried workers compensation insurance but I know that the premiums are very high for some occupations. So I guess the court decided that she was injured on the job and entitled to benefits.

if the woman injured herself at work why shouldn't she get Workman's compensation. Or is this a case of you do not personally approve of her work?
