I have been using my dad's old dishes for the last 15 years and they were 7 years old when I got them. So they are about 22 years old. I started to think I needed to get a new set cause the kids started to ask why the spoons were burnt and stuff (My dad) and the dished were looking their age for sure. They were a cheap set when he bought them. So when I was at the superstore there was a sale on for dishes. Regularly $17 for $8. So I bought two sets. I brought home my new set all a glow just to find the mugs have shrank in the last twenty years. I love my cup of tea or coffee and I am not planning to use these dinky thimbles to get my fix. Even my guests are not grabbing them but the bigger older mugs for their joe. Have you noticed they shrank? Or do you buy dishes way more often than I that you don't realize the change? Do you need a big cup or is a swig enough?

Hi vicki, For some reason if you get mugs in a set of dishes they are really small. I usually go to Walmart or to The Dollar Store to get a BIG mug that I use for coffee! I don't see why they don't just up-size the mugs in the dish sets, they'd save a lot of people a lot of grief. Have a good day! Love & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear ;)

I hear ya! I would have to actually get off the computer seat three times more if I use these shot glasses rather than my old ones. May have to check out some new mega mugs to match my new set of dishes. LOL

The cups that go with dish sets have always been smaller than the mugs you buy individually. When i need new coffee mugs I get them at the thrift store for about 5occents each. I see the new mugs in the dollar stores and wal-mart and to me they look like they are bigger now.

Not buying new dishe csets a lot doesn't mean your cheap. just go to a thrift store and you can get all sizes of cups and mugs because a lot of people get tired of the same ones and so donate them.

Yeah my blue one from my dad's set was great and big. Just if I want a real mug set I will have to stop being a cheapo. LOL
