Well fall with it's cold breezes has finally taken it's toll. My Red Maple is nearly naked. It has a few leaves clinging on for dear life. This is a shot of the few leaves left on my tree in the front yard. I loved looking daily at the beautiful red, yellow, and brown colors of the leaves as they changed. Now I have to look at them as I rake the yard. Ugghh! How many hate raking the leaves? What do you do with the leaves after raking them? I use mine mostly for mulch around my shrubs, apple trees, and flower beds. Then comes early spring I have to rake them & throw them in the garbage for the yard waste garbage to be collected.

Our trees aren't done yet...I put them on the curb and a truck comes by and vacuums them up...I love to rake the leaves...When I was growing up we put them in trash bags and put them around the outside of the house for insulation...Then in the Spring we put them in the garden...

When we lived in Ohio we would rank them to the curb and the city would come by once a week and use this big machine and suck them all up

We have the street cleaners/vaacums but the city tells us not to place leaves in the street for that purpose. It is our responsibility to take care of our own leaves etc. Oh well.

Hubby rakes the leaves. My allergies won't allow me to enjoy the job of raking leaves. When I was younger it was a task that I looked forward to. I now feel cheated. He rakes them or uses the blower to bring them to a spot near the woods. The pile is huge this year. I have advised him to keep the garden beds covered with the leaves to protect it from the winter cold. But, he doesn't like the look of the nasty leaves covering the ground. I fear our gardens will suffer this year.

Raking leaves is the worst job ever! Especially since I have dogs, there are always some presents in there as an added bonus. I rake them all up, and put them in those paper bags for pickup. Or, rake them to the curb, and the big suction vacuum thingie comes and picks them up. My trees are still pretty green, it's been really weird weather here, and fall is coming really late.
BTW - you take the best pics!

Raking leaves is so much fun.
Being out in the autumn sun.
They blow around with no care.
Floating from here to there.
Have faith that you can rake.
And gather them all.
Make no mistake.
It really is fall.
See, they can be put to good use.
Those poor leaves take much abuse.
I'd rather rake leaves all year long.
Cause that would mean winter would never come along.

You are lucky..I have 2 maples..huge trees. They are always the last on the street to lose their leaves. So we can not rake them up until it is cold and it always seems to be dark, since by then it gets dark so early.
Even if we do intermittent rakings...it seems to hold on to enough until the end making raking a major ordeal.
The town takes our leaves in the fall..provided they are still not on the trees.
