We buy just the Sunday local newspaper at home. Not home delievered just bought and brought home. The wife buys the daily paper for work as she gets near work. Now my problem is the way my wife does her "paper" reading at home. She reads all the ads scouring for the coupons of the local grocery stores. Then for sale items we may buy that day. Then she'll read the news itself. But the real problem is her just tossing it on the floor or leaving it on the couch/chair or wherever it was she read it. Now we have a newspaper rack for storing the paper after reading it. But does she put it there? Noooo! Hahahaha! Unless of course I leave it lying around for 6 days and she cleans house comes Saturday the following weekend. HAHAHA! I have grown accustomed to having to clean her mees up after she's done with the paper. She even cuts coupons then leaves the cut papers lying around a lot as well as some of the coupons at times. Lord forgive me if I toss one of her precious coupons in the trash. HAHAHA! Seldom do I do that as I hate her yelling at me. Do you use a rack for your papers or books etc after reading. Do you keep it neat? Do you recycle your old papers/books?

Yet another complaint about your wife, from you today. I think you both quarreled today morning or yesterday night - right?
LOL!
we do have an old stand for newspapers and old magazines, grandpa bob. Initially, it used to be a stand where we would keep our clothes. With time, as it got older, it could not withstand the weight of all of our clothes and started to bend. Also, after sometime we got a wardrobe carpentered at our home, so we decided to make it a newspaper stand.
As for the old newspapers and magazines, we sell them for to a shop nearby for money, from there probably it will be sent to recycling centres, i guess.

Nope we didn't have a spat, quarrell or whatever. Just my feelings today is all after house cleaning. HAHAHA!! There is a sort of hidden area between the love seat and the recliner/rocking chair. It's the best spot she has to toss her papers as it is hidden from view somewhat. Sometimes I leave that area alone when I vacuum the living room. Just today I picked up 3 weeks of the Sundays paper in that area. HAHAHA!!

I don't use a rack, but have a shelf in the laundry. We don't keep them there for long, as they either end up in the recycling bin, or used as landfill.
Actually newspapers are great as landfill. They are even good as mulch, provided they are torn up a bit first.
My hubby complains a little about me leaving the newspaper disorganised, ie.the sections aren't in the correct order.

I know someone that uses old papers for mulch also. he uses a paper shredder then uses the strings of paper adding it to his mulching bin.

Oh my! Sounds like your wife and my daughter are cut from the same mold so-to-speak. My daughter has a hamper right inside her bedroom door but fails to use it, hence her clothes all over her bedroom floor. Just like your wife with the newspaper strewn about when there is a rack for it. lol Anyways, I'm like you with the paper. When your done with it, put it all back together at least and clean up your mess. I have a rack for the papers. It's called a dog crate and as you can tell by the pic, it's a total mess which means I need to bundle em all up and take them to the Lion's Club trailer for recycling.

Oh the real funny thing is when she reads a magazine in bed. Now they have all those prepaid postcards for many different things. She rips them oput throwing them anywhere. Many a night I retire to bed and get poked by a postcard under the blanket. HAHAHAHA!

We just get the Sunday paper. I need to get a newspaper stand to put it in for my old one fell apart when we moved. It's funny to hear you talk about HER making the mess when it's usually HIM that makes the mess. And last night I was a little miffed at my hubby. He had gone to bed and left dirty dishes in the sink, didn't make up the coffee pot, didn't take out the trash or pick up his dirty clothes. However I did it for him because I hate messes of any kind! LOL I know he works and all but if he could just clean up behind himself I'd be happy. I don't expect him to clean or wash clothes and the like but to clean up behind himself. Is that too much to ask, I say! LOL

It's bad enough to have to walk to the street to get the paper but
to find it wet as the bag had a hole would be really bad. HAHAHA!1

I want to get the daily and weekend local paper delivered but as we have a roadside mailbox without the newspaper box attatched the delivery person would just wrap the paper in a plastic bag and toos it on the driveway or lawn. I need to get a box attatched soon. HAHAHA!!

Before, we used to buy newspapers. We don't have a rack at home. What I did with the old ones is to stack them in a box and when they're unmanageable anymore we sell them. There are junk shops who buy old newspapers or magazines in our place. Of course, it's not much but it's better than having garbage and nest for mouse later. I just retain a few old copies to be used for cleaning the glass windows and doors.
I tell you what I did with the mess (cut papers etc.) I saw lying around? If I know who causes such a mess, I gather all these and place them in the dresser or clothes pockets of whoever did the mess. It will be a leson for them to clean up after. I don't know if you can do that with your wife?hahaha

We don't have a newspaper or magazine rack. I do have a holder for the TV Guide on my lounging chair, so it no longer gets lost. I put in one other magazine for something to read when I have a few minutes of free time, but rarely have free time any longer.
I clip coupons, so my husband wouldn't consider tossing any coupon before he asks me if he can get rid of it. This includes expired coupons, as the military can use them up to 6 months expired. My daughter is in the military, so some of them are for her.
I do recycle newspapers and magazines. Its important to not make the land fills even fuller. This area has dumpsters just for items that can be recycled.

I used to save up my newspapers and such to use for padding for packages or for box filler for holidays and birthdays. Sometimes I even used the newspaper for wrapping paper. Don't ever throw out a womans coupons LOL! This is a very good lesson that all men should learn!

I usually only buy the sunday paper, but lately I have been buying the paper 3 to 4 times a week. My son has driving in school and they have to cut out 25 different articles about driving.
I am very neat about the paper and I put it together the same way it was before I got it. We let my son go through the paper after we are finished because when he is done cutting out his articles, nobody could read it, the paper is all over the place. I make him put the paper in the recycle can right when he is finished. It drives me crazy to see the paper all over.

I am messy myself, have to remember to carry old newpapers to the bin.In fact, if I dont remind myself, I might just forget to clean up, and the house may go to all hell.Tidy is not my middle name, its not really my name at all..and if I ever had a paper rack, I might have forgotten where it is... :)

We have the Sunday and daily paper delivered to our home. No paper rack. The paper ends up on the kitchen table, the sofa, the floor. Since I don't know what my husband has read and what he hasn't, I will stack the papers on the hearth (no fire in the fireplace). Then once or twice a week I will put the older papers in the recycling bin.

that's where it remains till I clean house etc.

Hahaha, nice story. I quit getting the paper at home cause I never had time to read it. I do pick up a Sunday paper every now and then, especially if I am in the store on Sunday. During the week we get free papers on campus. It's awesome and a good excuse to take a walk on break!
I do recycle, both at home and at work. We have special bins at the office and the custodians pick up on regular basis.
