Anybody knows what happened to Isaiah Washington?

I watched the start of Season 4 and it seems that Dr. Burke's character is not coming back. Anybody knows if Isaiah Washington has been fired and banned from the show? I'd appreciate any news because the curiosity is eating me :p
Pity, he and Cristina made a good team ...

Mr Washington made comments that ABC decided where not fine, so they didn't sign him to a new contract. ABC is owned by Disney, so they are trying to keep a certain image. This isn't the only show to not sign another contract when the star did something that ABC didn't feel their behavior was acceptable.

His contract was not renewed. He's history on Grey's Anatomy.
