Well I jusr retirned from my meeting with Social Services at the home my dad is at. he is not coming home until next Sunday as I feel I need to prepare myself more for his return than he needs to prepare to return. So he is going to be paying out of pocket for the 6 days at the home beyond the covered stay. As far as the meeting, He never refused the therapy he just whined he was tired and would stop. He did go every day but did not participate fully. He was not gasing any ground on their objectives for him so that's that issue cleared up. We are going to have some type of home care assistance be it paid by dad or covered by medicaid etc. So things are looking good for his return Sunday the 11th. We have set the date for this and he is escited somewhat. So things are going decent for me today. Stress free anyhow. (so far) HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi Grandp Bob, I am glad you are getting an extra week for yourself and I'm also happy that your dad will be getting home care assistance, I'm sure you will need the help. Your dad should be very grateful to have a son like you to take care of him.:)

A stress-free day? I didn't think that was possible anymore! I'm glad someone is having a great day. I worked today and came home exhausted. I'm taking it easy now. I have done a couple loads of laundry and cooked dinner. Hubby is going to have to clean the kitchen :) Hehe.

I am glad to see that you are more positive about the situation with your Dad now. Hopefully the 6 days your Dad is paying for is not too expensive. It is also good that he will qualify for home care assistance. I hope that includes physical therapy, because if he wasn't gaining any ground in the nursing home, he needs to make an effort if he living with you. It is good to have stress free days!!

I'm glad that your stress has been lifted, Grandpa Bob, and that you're taking another week 'to collect yourself.' It's a blessing that your dad's able to afford to pay for the rest of his stay too. I do hope his home care will be covered for him though. The 'excitement' of returning home, may be just the incentive he needs to get back on his feet. God Bless.

Some stress not all. But it is a good feeling getting rid of even a speck of stress as the amoutn of stress I have been facing seems to grow by leaps and bounds almost weekly or daily. Ugghh! Another episode that I'll start a discussion on later today wasn't pleasant this morning. Look for that in a few hours. HAHAHA! Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Awww Amazing Grandpa Bob ( I think I will have to abbreviate your name to AGP) I am so pleased that things have went so well today and the sky must be looking blue again now that everything isn't so dark! I agree that an extra week to relax and get your head straight before your dad comes home is best thing for you. I know you love your Dad dearly but it is never easy to look after an elderly parent - specially one who doesn't really do his therapy - maybe you will have more luck when he is home and feels safe and secure again! Hugs AGB xxx

Do you have a local Project Independence? It is a program that gets elderly people out of the house for a few hours a day. Our local one will pick up the member and bring them to the facility. If they are there for the day, they give them lunch. It breaks up the day for them and keeps them amongst their peers. Hope everything continues to run smoothly for you. Big huggers to you.

We have all sorts of services like this available. The thing is , dad is very lazy and very anti-social. I had offered to take him places for a break when he first moved here. he is hard headed and doesn't like doing a lot anymore. Thanks for the hugs. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!`

I'm so glad for your sake that you're getting that extra time. Also, I'm so sorry you ended up paying for a walked; I thought maybe you could've gotten that through Medicare. Don't be afraid to ask about anything your dad needs, there are things that are covered that I'd never have guessed. I'm not sure how much varies by state or what's federally funded, but just make sure to seek whatever help you may need. Annie

he may get reimbursed also for the walker so it's no biggie at this time. I have social services checking into things that dad may need and how to get them free or nearly free anyhow. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am glad you got things straingtened out. I am glad dad can afford to say extra days. It seems terrible that just because one's medicade runs out then the family has to bring them home no matter what condition the patient is in. I am glad you are doing better. I am sorry you have been put through this. I am so glad you have not gone back to the bottle. Hurray for you. If you need to go back to your meetings. Fellowship is good in our times of need.
