I love it when I travel to a place where I can go snorkeling in warm tropical waters. I did this the first time at Australia's Great Barrier Reef. I loved seeing all the beautiful coral and colorful fish of many different sizes. I also did some snorkeling off the coast of Western Australia where I was lucky enough to see a manta ray. In French Polynesia I snorkeled with small sharks. Wow! That was rather exciting. I snorkeled with friendly String rays there too.
Do you like to go snorkeling?
Have you ever been diving?
What have you seen? Sharks, sting rays?
can you describe your ideal underwater adventure?

When I first tried snorkeling, it was really scary for someone like who who dont know how to swim. I need somebody to guide me. But when I saw the beauty underworld..I am very amazed with the wonderful colors of the sea. And how peaceful kind of life they have there.
In Philippines we have wonderful seas and resorts there. And I want to try and try again..

Yes, it was funny putting my head under the water for the first time. The beauty of the Great Barrier Reef took my breath away. That time I had a friend to guide me. However in Samoa the current drifted me out to sea. The coral was beautiful but the shore was far away. I swam in a semi circle to get myself back in. I would love to go island hopping in the Philippines and go snorkeling there. Many thanks for your superb response.

I love snorkeling but now I just got a son who is only 6 months old. I am waiting for him to grow older before going for my next snorkeling trip. As for diving, I have not done that and may be I would want ti give it a try someday.
By the aye, do you know what is the minimum age allowed to go snorkeling?

I like swimming just for exercise only but not very good in it. I don’t have the experience of snorkeling or diving. I understand that you must have wonderful time exploring the underwater world to have close contact with the colorful fish and beautiful coral as well as other marine plans and creatures. I envy you could have the chance to watch the amazing and tranquil underwater scene which could not be found on the land.

The first time I ever went snorkeling was in Hawaii. It was such an awesome experience. The water was so blue and clear and the fish were beautiful. I was lucky enough to get to see a white tip reef shark when I was snorkeling. I was very shocked when I saw it swim by. My first instinct was to swim to shore as quickly as possible. But I knew if I went home and told everyone I swam with a shark noone would believe me. So I went back under and got a picture of it.
I have never been diving but would love to give that a try one day. And you are very lucky to have gone snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. Hopefully one day I'll have that opportunity!

You were lucky to get a photo of the white tipped shark. I am pleased that you didn't feel afraid. I have snorkeled with black tipped sharks and felt a bit nervous at first. When I was in the Maldives walking by the sea shore I saw some tiny baby black tipped sharks in shallow water. I got some wonderful photos of them. When I was in Hawaii the waves were huge, more suitable for surfing than snorkeling. I did go out on a boat whale watching whilst here. Thanks for your excellent response.

Yes. I think snorkeling is very safe. Diving can be dangerous if something goes wrong though. Once I was snorkeling in Samoa and it was lovely to get out to the place there was good coral. I so enjoyed seeing all the beautiful coral and fish. However due to the tide I drifted and drifted more and more out to sea but I didn't know this. Then when I looked up I was right out at sea. I had to swim in a semi circle to get back to the beach without the tide taking me out even further.

Ahh.. you've done it again. The one thing I regret not doing when I was young was to try scuba diving. Unfortunately, now I'm afraid my time has past.

I have never gone diving nor snorkeling, but i would definitely would love trying! I love swimming and the sea, so i don't think there's a chance that i don't like diving as well. It's one of the things i really want to try.

I love snorkeling too. I haven't been to the Great Barrier Reef yet but it is definitly on my list of things too do. I just love how you feel underwater surrounded by a world that doesn't seem to care that you're visiting.
