Adding Pictures

When you are adding pictures to your article, you have to type in who created it and who owns the rights. What if I find a picture I like on the internet, and I don't know who took it and who owns it? Is there something I can put in the box to make it okay to use?
Thanks!

I've added alot of pics to my discussions and I've never put in who created it or who owns it. Most of my pics that I've used are either my own or ones from the internet. Unless it is on a site that is copyrighted (Thomas Kinkade, Precious Moments, ect.) or has a copyright symbol, I figure it's pretty much public domain. Most ppl who have artwork or such online tend to have a watermark or simular mark imbedded so they know it is theirs.

That's not how public domain works... you should read up on it before you get yourself in trouble. Anything created by anyone else is copyrighted whether they registered it as so or not. Just because it is publicly available does not mean it is public domain and that you are free to use it as your own.

Every image on the internet is created by someone whether with a camera or by their own hand so if your going to spend all your time tracking down who created what, your never going to have time for anything else.
I do not claim any image I find online "as my own"...I state in the post that it was found online. I do not take images from any sites that copyrighted or any with a copyright symbol.

I would say no... I usually go to a site called Stock Xchange to find images that are free for others to use with the information that you need to give credit to the person who put it on there. The link to this site is: http://www.sxc.hu I think you may I have to join to actually see the full view pictures and stuff, but it is a free site so no big deal. Plus they have a ton of pictures so it's well worth it.

oh no no. I don't mean adding pictures here on Mylot. To do that here, you have to have either 500 or 1,000 posts. I am talking about adding pictures to your articles at Associated Content. =P
