Some things have to be done no matter the appearance afterwards. I hated doing this but such is life with a senior citizen living in your home. The company coming out for dads health care was here Monday afternoon and told me I had to get rid of the rugs or tape them down. I also had to tape the extension cord down or remove it. This all because he drags his feet and uses a walker and it's a fall hazard. So here's what the office/computer room looks like now. I also have to go buy more duct tape too. HAHAHA! Do you have to tape down things anywhere in your house for any reason? How ugly if at all is the room where you have your computer? HAHAHAHA!!! Do share plaease. No matter how UGLEEEEE!!!!!

Nice job on taping the rugs down..Personal and family safety is much more important than looks...I would have to say I don't have to tape anything down in my home but my office is a mess..Not from duck tape but because I don't have enough room for everything and it gets put in the office..I now have a path to my computer and that is it...LOL...Posting a picture is way to scary...LOL

That picture was REALLY blurry. Hard to decipher what's what. HAHAHA! But rated it a + anyhow and left a comment. I have 2 dressers as well as a stackable storage bin in my office as well. It's very crowded. Here's a photo of those items.

I can't put mine in the living room as I am on it 12 hours or more a day. It would disturb dad and others and I'd be distracted by the TV anyhow. HAHAHA!! Mine is a mess but it's my mess and I love it. Hee hee.

Hey wait a second. When is he going to finish our basement? Your
mom wants a newer office downstairs as well as an exercise room.
BTW mom would like some type of easy exercise DVD for Christmas.
She didn't say this but she's been complaining about the old worn
out tape she uses. Hint Hint.

Hi Grandpa Bob,
I don't 'currently' have anything duct taped in my home. However, if it became necessary, I'd do what I have to do. Something that 'was' an eyesore here, this past summer, was a fan that wasn't working properly. It was one of the pedestal type, and not that old really. It got so that the only direction it would point in, was down on the floor. I was desperate before we got our window AC in, so I tied a skipping rope to it, to pull it upright, and fastened it to a chair. It did the trick but looked terrible, haha.
As for our computer room, we actually have our computer desk in the dining room, and it's quite crowded. The top of the desk gets covered with papers etc., at times too. The room is a living and dining room combined, and is fairly small. It's home though, and that's the important thing, oh, and another thing, it doesn't matter as long as our computer's working.:)

Look at the photo right above your response. This is one wall of the office. 2 dressers and a straoge bin. With junk piled on top of them as well. My office is a pig sty of sorts. But it's MY pig sty. HAHAHAHA!!
I hang a fan in the summer from the top of my doorway in the office for air circulation. I used a bandana this year to hold it to the nail in the center of the door frame top. HAHAHA! No photo of that. Tee hee.

I've checked out the photo, rated it, and left a comment. As for 'our fans,' I'm happy to hear that I'm in good company. Whatever gets the job done.:)

Well, they were right. Throw rugs, carpets, wires, anything lying on the floor that's not secured is an accident waiting to happen. I only have 2 throw rugs in my house and both become slip n slides whenever the animals start chasing each other round the house.

Luckily the throw rugs I use are in an area
that dad usually doesn't venture near. HAhahaha!!

Well thankfully I don't have to contend with any of those problems. I no longer have rugs or carpeting on my floor so just bare wood floors And since I have a rather gigantic computer desk all the wiring/cables cords are all hidden behind the desk. I do have to admit the only thing I might have to worry about is some "ghosts" that like to squeeze in behind the desk and might unplug everything..uh, these "ghosts" of course are the four-footed, furry variety that go Meow...LOL
As far as the duct tape thing...instead of getting the regular silver kind they do have color ones and maybe you could try and match up the colors of the rugs so it doesn't look so apparent?

My wife and I were talking the other day about removing the flooring
in a few rooms including the office and add wood flooring instead for
a nice natural look. When we can afford this we will do it. For now it's rugs and duct tape for the office. HAHAHAHA!! Thanks. This color works well enough for me.

LOL I know those 'ghosts' well, pyewacket, for I have a few of my own. My one kitten, Simba, has recently learned how to open the door on my desk to get to the goodies I keep there for occassional giving but failed to figure out how to open it back up after it shut on his butt. lol It's self-closing but all he had to was push with his head and it would of opened back up for him to jump out. What a nut!!

My computer room is butt-ugly in another way: Excess clutter! One of these days, I'm actually going to organize it, but my family and friends are skeptical of these promises being kept until they hear about pigs flying around hell wearing winter clothing!

Cluttered is my desk as well. I have money, medications, cough syrup, printer, camera, notes, paper pads, keys, pens, paper clips, aerosol cans, mail, kleenex, candles, and oh so much more cluttering my desk almost every day. I clean the desk once a month. Then the next day it's back to my cluttered look.

My computer room is my kitchen. This way I can still see what the kids are doing if I'm on the computer. I don't have to tape anything down in our house though. I wouldn't worry about how it looks though. At least it will help to keep your dad from falling.

No I can honestly say they aren't. We take care of it. Clean it and keep it neat whenever we can. the only problem is that we have a beautiful cat that keeps shedding there. I think she likes computers and papers, she probably thinks we spend more time with them rather than with her :)

Ugly??? Are you kidding me??? I wouldn't dare post a picture, but I can't anyway. There's no duct tape involved but there sure are lots of papers and books and you name it in my dining room which doubles as my office/computer room. Actually it hasn't been used as a dining room for many, many years and it's a good thing because there's no room for any diners or dinner here.

Well, my exhusband was the duct tape king. If there was anything that could be taped down he would do it. It drove me mad! Anyhow, currently no duct taping here. I have all of my wires running behind my desk to the outlets. I can't stand having cords and wires running rampant about the place. Well, in your case, it's for the greater good. So, just bear with it! I am sure your dad really appreciates your efforts.

Hi,well i have my computer desk in the basement recreational room in a corner where its dark and gloomy, haha.I need lighting because i look like an evil scientist sitting here in the dark corner away from the "path" of living, hehe. Its ugly and needs to be painted(the walls).I neglected this part of the basement and went for the part where people saw down stairs when they first walked in the door upstairs.Hopefully i can finish it soon,i slacked off abit there, haha.

I would love to have mine in the basement but theres a couple reasons now as to why that's not such a good idea. Mainly because I need to be around my dad or at least hear him for fall issues etc. the other reasopn is because theres no heat vents in the bedroom downstairs. I hate being cold. I have wallpaper peeling off the walls in the office. I need to paint the WHOLE house inside.

My office could use some update. It is very cluttered. I have my office plus my craft room and also I use it a den. It's an all purpose room so not very neat. I would say its the ugliest room in the house, and funny thing its my favorite room.

It's a shame to have things the way you like them and then have to go and have changes but you know it's for a good cause and we know you wouldn't have it any other way.
I bought some duct tape here in Australia, and found it's not very sticky, after a few hours it curls up. Is that supposed to happen? I hope not, cos I bought 3 rolls of it. LOL.

Well, its ok at least your dad is safe. In time you an find the best remedy for that so that at least your house to look pleasant. Well, for me as long as you keep it clean then its ok. You can look for some hardware and see what you can use instead of tapes. Dont worry too much. Well, my house a little better because I dont have a lot here.
