I've just read that doing heavy exercise just before sleep can cause heart and respiratory disorders.
I usually do heavy work before sleep but now I'll be using safer techniques in order to get sleep.

For me, if I can't sleep, I won't force it. Just wake up and do something. Read a book, surf the net, watch tv or simply turn on the radio or play your favourite cd. You will feel really tired the next day at work but will sure to get a great rest the following night.

i was diagnosed with sleep apena..so i take Ambien Cr with xanax at time of sleep to calm me down for a good nights sleep...also i take a light anti-depressant in the a.m.
i tried using the cpap..and i had three of the different machines but could not tolerate them..as my sinus would hurt, etc etc claustraphobia..? so i don't use a cpap..but without sleeping bills i sometimes wake up terrified and I have stoped breathing in my sleep..know i know there are treatments that deliever the air pressure through the mouth andnot the nostrils.i will try this new approach..
but check the sleep apnea a a sleep disorder clinic..and then work with your docotr..it wil change your life..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I, too, have difficulty falling asleep. My brain chooses to be in hyper mode during the times i should be sleeping. I take valium on desperate times especially when i have work the next day. I try to stay off caffeine 4 hours prior to my bedtime and avoid food high in sugar during dinner. They say thinking about useless stuff or visualizing something completely nonsense helps bore your mind to sleep. Try visualizing a moving windmill to help you clear your mind of thoughts that keep you up.

I really find it hard to get asleep. I haven't tried to take some medicines yet. I want to get asleep in a natural way. Thanks for the suggestions :)

I'd say exercise a lot before going to bed, so your body is tired. Or listen to soft, classical music to help you doze off.
