I am not one to wax prophetic, but while I took a couple of weeks off from chool this October to pursue a few other things online and to get my head ready for the second half of my degree program I said to my bf, "Watch, my systemwill hold together fine as long as I am not in school. Then as soon as I start back WHAMMO! it would lock up on me. Well the first week in November, the second week of my new class and it happened. I downloaded a Vista mask software program for my computer and restarted it and it would not restart! It was convinced that it was Vista. Well I could not for the life of me get it to log on so that I could delete the software nor could I get any of my other hard drives to work in this computer system. So for a couple of days I was stuck. I managed to borrow a very old very slow computer froma friend but until I got a new system either put together from spare parts or to buy one I was offline from my job and doing any large web applications. I was in despair. I could basically go to school and submit my homework but that was it! Finally 8 rebuilds and three cannibalized computer systems later I have my origional computer systemback up and running. I won't say running better than ever, but since the shutdown it is runing better than any of the other systems that I tested or configured. I don't know if it was my foreshadowing prediction just fulfilling itself or if I just needed to rebuild my system that had been fairly hard used in the last eight months but regardless, if you kn ow how to, if your system goes down the best way to look at it is, "Well I guess that it must be time for a rebuild!"
