Well this morning (Tues) at 7 a.m. our time we got the call from the University of Michigan Hospitals. They want to have my wife in Michigan in about 2 weeks for the operation etc. It will be a 5 day to a week long stay for her. Not all in the hopsital though. They want her to arrive on a Friday so she can learn to adminsitor injections to herself. Seems she has to inject a drug into her body to assist in producing stron stem cells in her system so when she has finished the donor process hers are growing back quickly. She fiorst has to have more blood drawn and tested here in Minnesota as well as a complete physical. So we are looking at her having this procedure done sometime near the middle of December. She will miss work for about 2 weeks which will really put a burden on the household budget etc. I will be staying here in Minnesota throughout the process too. That's the hardest part. They take a needle into her hip bone sucking the marrow from there to give to her brother. Then the injections build up her marrow and stem cells. So she will have sore hips and really sore legs. being a waitress on her feet 12 hours a day she will be sidelined for a couple weks minimum. Her family has already said they would help out finacially but my wife wants no help. I said at least let them pay for the filght. I am sure she will allow that at least. That's it as far as an update. Things are looking brioghter for her brother and all the family. And things are getting really close as well. Thanks all for this chance to update everyone. Of course I had to add a photo of my wife. Gotta get that extra penny huh?

Stop by the Java restaraunt at 2801 Nicollett Ave South on a
weekday if you're ever in town and tell her. Hee hee. She is
a wonderful woman to say the least. Thanks.

It's a Middle Eastern Restaraunt. The best deal is the Gyro or as it's called at the Java Shawirma. Great gyro sandwiches for only $5. A huge sandwich. I have a hard time eating a whole one myself. Anyhow.....I won't say a word. One year when Minneapolis had the A.A. World Convention here a couple online A.A. friends showed up there saying they knew me from online. She loved it.

Don't worry about it. If you respond fine if not I won't get upset. Hee hee. This is great news. Now it's just wait for FedEx to bring the info for her next series of blood tests and physical etc. Then shortly after that a date will be set I am sure. Thanks bunches. We are estatic as well. Well except for us being seperated for a week or so. First time in many many years. the only time really. I was gone for 3 days myself once and we missed each otherr terribly.

You know the old saying "Absense makes the heart grow fonder" I'm sure it'll be just that when your wife is away. Bless you both and hope she has a safe and happy trip... as happy as happy can be for I know she'll be hurting and sore missing you but she's doing a wonderful deed in saving her brother.

That has got to be a wonderful Christmas gift that she will be giving the family, by giving her brother a second chance at life. I hope all goes well. It does not sound like fun, but I would do if for my brother if it was necessary. Take care, love each other a lot, and have a good Thanksgiving holiday.

Yes a very great gift. The gift of life! What other gift could ever top this one? None that I can think of. Thanks and you have a great Holiday as well. One good thing they don't want to keep her from family during either holiday thanfully.

Sucks she has to miss work a while but, then again, she deserves a break with her working so much. She'll be refreshed and ready to go back to work when she heals up from the operation. Just in time to prepare Christmas dinner. Tell Grandma Debbie to have a safe flight and wish her and her brother a speedy recovery.

Yeah it's our only income actually and it will put a damper on the last of the shopping. But we've mostly got them all anyhow. Her thighs and legs will be real sore for a couple weeks. But knowing Debbie she'll be ready to get back to work the day she gets home. Who knows. Will relay this to her as well. Thanks also.

Hi Grandpa Bob, I think you have one wonderful wife. (I'm sure you already know) How is she feeling about the surgery, is she scared or worried? Give her a big hug for me.:) She is giving the best gift anyone could ever give. You are also a very supportive hubby. How is her brother doing? I wish the best of luck to all of you.:)

She is a blessing to me actually. A wonderful woman to say the least. She is just worried about traveling alone. Its only about 800 miles by plane. HAHAHA! But a week away from work is her main concern not me. Sigh! HAHAHA! Seriously. He is so so considering. It's been 4 months since we forst heard of this and he has been in and out of a coma a couple times. His whole immune system has shut down until a marrow translant. So the sooner the better for him. Thanks also.

Wow its finally happening. Your Debbie sure is a special brave lady. Keep us all informed with what is happening. Also let us know just before she goes, that way we all can say some extra prayers for all of you. I feel so sorry that you can't go with her. I do understand why you can't go, with your dad there, etc. Take care, things will work out.

Good on your wife for doing this, especially as it involves pain & financial hardship. I also think she should accept financial help at least with the flights.
It is a difficult thing she is doing, what with giving herself injections, etc.
But she will be glad she did this. Her brother & his family must be extremely grateful.

Hello grandpa bob!
Hugs and kisses for grandma Debbie, such a kind hearted person to give a part of her for her brother. I pray she gets well soon, it may be painful for her part but if its the only way to save the brother then its such a wonderful gift of life.
This month lost a friend with luekemia, there no enough money and no bone marrow donor.
Prayers for grandma debbie nad for her brother and to you as well grandpa bob, please take good care of her.
