I had my first day of training yesterday from 9am-6pm and was seriously brain dead after that. I was soooo tired when I got home, and as soon as I walked in the front door, I took a shower and went straight to bed. I fell asleep before my son even got into his bed and it was only 6.30-7ish. I didn't wake up until this morning at 8.30am.
I didn't have to start my first day on the job today until 12.15pm - 8.15pm so I slept in a little longer before getting up and making breakfast and getting myself ready for work. As soon as I got there, it was full on serving customers all day. It was nonstop and even though the time went by fast, I really enjoyed it and felt that I did ok for my first day on the job. I managed to remember a lot of the training from the day before, with a few exceptions, and was complemented by a few of the longer serving employees on how quickly I pick up things. (I learn very fast when I actually do the work than learning from a manual or computer training program.)
A soon as I got home, my legs started to ache (from the thighs to my ankles) and they still are aching as I'm typing this discussion. I tried soaking them in a hot bath and was hoping my husband would massage my feet LOL but he was so buggered from taking care of my son this weekend, so I told him to forget it LOL
I wish I knew of a masseuse that was very very cheap to come to my house tommorrow to massage my legs and feet LOL Any takers out there? LOL
I know it will get easier in time and even though I was wearing flat shoes, I may need to look for a more comfortable shoe to wear. Maybe that's what I will do with my first paycheck (a cheap and comfortable pair that is :))

Hi,
I hope you manage to work without any problems. Hard work pays (here in the form of pay check):)
hope you get a good foot massage and relax. to relax, soak your feet in warm water with a little salt. It relieves your pain and gives you comfort and strength.
Hope you take care and get a good pair of shoes. I recommend you hush puppies. It's the best according to my experience.
Take care.

Thanks for the recommendation lavenderbloom. I'll check that brand out. I really need a good pair of comfy shoes. My feet feel better today only because I worked 4 1/2 hours but come Saturday, it's 8 hours so I'll be finding a pair before then. Thanks again.

I hope they start feeling better. It's probably just because your body isn't used to what you are doing yet. It will get better the longer you do that job. If you lived near me I would have my friend come massage your legs for you because she does a wonderful job and she doesn't charge much. I need to call her again soon for myself. I have lower back pain sometimes and she makes it feel so much better after she massages it.

Yup your right. My legs and body are not use to standing for long hours as I am usually sitting behind a desk and working on computers. It will get easier I'm sore and I wish I lived close to you so I can get that massage :) thanks for the offer!!!

Get the Spenco arch supporters for your shoes. Those should help.

I warned you. The Christmas season is maddening. But you will get use to it soon. I am glad that you are enjoying yourself and catching on quickly. I am performance shy at first, so I think that learning from a manuel would be easier for me. I get nervous.

It sure is especially the weekends. Today was so much easier and more relaxing than last weekend and since i'm only working 4 1/2 hours it flew by very fast. I'm going to invest in a comfy pair of shoes as I dont' know how half of these woman can wear heels all day LOL
I was nervous too but when I get stuck into it and just give it a go, I find it gets easier by the minute.

Glad to hear that you are doing well with your new job. No worry, the ache will soon be overcome by joy :P
Perhaps you might want to want to use cold water instead of warm water. I was told that using cold water helps "coool" any inflammation if there is. Using warm or hot water may provide some comfort or providing some soothing effect, but I feel cold water works better especially if it is just within a day or two. After prolonged period (perhaps a week), cold water should be avoided though. Hope I have provided some comfort to you. lol.

Hi Bighead :) never thought to use cold water however I haven't noticed in inflammation. I think its more muscle soreness from bending and looking in drawers and then standing back up and then down again all day long LOL but thanks for the tip :)

Congratulations on your first day on the job...sorry to hear that you are in pain..It will subside after some time but you are right as far as getting a good pair of shoes...I used to walk on concrete so I went to Payless and I found a perfect pair of shoes..Actually I think you can get similar ones at Kmart, or Walmart...They slip on and have a thicker sole...no ties, or velcro....Good luck to you....

You do need a comfortable pair of shoes when you are on your feet all day. You need some support (no, not our good wishes, and sympathy although it is given,) but shoes with support. They may cost a bit more but a well worth it. Or if you go to the Goodwill, you may be lucky and get a pair there.
Oh and don't worry, as time goes on, it will get much better and when you are home if you put your feet up for a while, and relax. You could try rubbing your legs where it is sore.
In a short while, all that you learn will become automatic, so you really do not have to think about it.
