V Windows Vista

I only just bought the new Windows Vista software really cheap if you buy it as an add on with a laptop etc. But the windows mail is rubbish, I tried to redirect my hotmail stuff to there and everything went wrong, I lost all my E-mails and stuff.
Can anyone Help me with this? please!
