Here's the situation...my daughter is in the USAF. She was recently married to a fellow airman she met at her last assigmnent. Now she is settling into her next assignment. He will finish his schooling shortly and join her there in January. She is living at the base hotel, and they will let her stay there 10 days b/f she has to start paying. She is trying hard to find housing off base as they have no family housing on base, but she had no credit history, and the apartment places she has visited do not want to rent to them, saying they don't make enough money. She is getting really nervous about this b/c she has been there since Dec. 9 and still doesn't have a place to call home. Anyone been thru this type of thing before? Any suggestions?

You could look online for your daughter and see what you could find her. Im sure there are some places they could rent with not having much credit. Maybe even some places that are low income. They should be able to help her find something that she can afford.

Thanks for your answer. My husband tells me that she will be paying about the same rent to stay in the hotel as she would in an apt. Plus, no elec or water bill in the base hotel. But of course it is not the same as having your own space and appliances, etc., and being able to set up housekeeping as newlyweds. She just gets so frustrated when things don't go smoothly. I guess that is just part of growing up.

I'm happy to report that she got into her new apt. a few days ago and is eagerly awaiting her husband and a ship ment of furniture that is on its way. She is happily sleeping on the floor in her sleeping bag, watching dvds on her lap top, and is able to have real food and cook. Be it ever so humble...
