As a game developer I use Ubuntu Linux which is easier to use and develop in but due to the lack of games for just Linux u will need to develop for at least two of the three OSes in the world which is easy because of OpenGL which if u can do it support it for windows and also have DirectX support. If u are a new game dev u should make games for Linux and Windows. U could also sell both versions for a price u could even have the games close source
