As you know I only posted a discussion about my cat, Pyewacket the other day. I asked for prayers for his healing needs. He has always been bothered by ear mite problems and I do routinely clean them out, but admit to having been a bit slack lately. Then to my horror I discovered he had developed a big lump under his ear area...no doubt a cyst or abscess. I can't just bring him to a vet as my old vet retired, and to hunt up a good one, and reasonable is hard, and right now just wouldn't have the money to take him to one even to say "hi" to the vet..they can be expensive. So I got in contact with my pet rescuer friend and she was going to send down some "Ear Clean" for the mites, and antibiotic in case of any infection and bring down the abscess. Well here's the infuriating part of it all. Amy, the rescuer, did indeed send off the "medicine kit" via overnight express on Tuesday via UPS--so I should have gotten it on Wednesday. I purposely stayed home all day to make sure I was home when it arrived. Since she gave me the tracking number, I was tracking it on the UPS website. It kept saying "in transit" all day, all night..like where the hell were they transporting it from Nome, Alaska??? My friend lives upstate NY..about a two hour drive away from me. Then when I checked again it now said, rescheduled for delivery tomorrow, meaning Thursday. Both of us were furious as hey, she sent it overnight "express" paying extra for that service. Okay, decided to stay home again on Thursday. So once again, on and off, I go and check on the UPS website to track the package...same thing "in transit" Then around 5:00 p.m. I check again..my mouth dropped....now it said..."status..delivered" @4:48 pm..Like WHAT????? What do you mean delivered? To whom? Certainly not to me!So contacted Amy...both she and I called UPS. When I called I found out instead of delivering it to my address, they, the jerk somehow managed to deliver at another address similar to mine but not quite. So with all these phone calls Amy and I were making, they were supposed to go to the address they delivered it to, and then bring it to me. Around 7:00 my doorbell rings, and I think, thank goodness must be UPS. Well, yes it was, but the guy was under the impression that he was supposed to pick up a package from ME to redeliver, and of course I told him no, so he leaves and I'm thinking, he'll be going to the other address to get the package...nothing. He never returned. So once again, Amy and I are calling these jerks, and they are reassuring both of us that the delivery will be Friday morning...did it come? NO!!! Like WTF is going on here? Where's that package? It would be of no value to anyone else as it was just that Ear Clean stuff and pet strength antibiotics, so why would anyone keep it?I'm still hoping that it might come on Monday (no deliveries on the weekend)-- Amy said if not she'll send more stuff down but not until Wednesday. In the meantime I'm without the medicine for Pyewacket! But as an update on how he's doing. Well, it is good news. Your prayers for him must be working, for very early this morning while I was still snoozing in bed, Pyewacket hopped up on my bed. Now you have to realize, he hasn't done this in a few days, ever since he had his lump thing. When he did hop up I noticed the lump was gone! It was down! It must have burst naturally ..uh, where no clue as I didn't see any evidence of yuk stuff anywhere. In lieu of the antibiotic and other medicine, I've resorted to some of my natural herbal cures. One of which is I boiled up water, place sage leaves and brewed that, then drained it, let it cool down a bit, and applied semi-warm/hot compresses on the area where the abscess was. Now you might ask..Sage? Yup. Don't ask how many times I've used a sage solution as a compress, either hot or cold for just about anything as it is a natural antiseptic and has always worked in the past. I could relate one story about my sage compress when I used it another time for a kitty with a serious burn injury..ah..but that's another story..A long one. And yes, as some of you have suggested I also washed out the area with some hydrogen peroxide...just in case. I plan to keep cleaning the area regularly with both the compress and peroxide. As I write this, Pyewacket is snoozing on my bed..which haven't even gotten a chance to make all day/night..LOL. He's eating well, and seems to be doing okay so far, but will let you know how things progress... Still could use your prayers there for Pyewacket though. However...have any of you gone through this kind of crap with a mis-delivered package? Did you ever get it resolved?

I SWEAR UPS is run by IDIOTS! I've had 3 packages delivered to my house for my neighbor down the street. The last one I just kept (no I didn't open it.) I called UPS to pick it up and redeliver on all 3 and they said they would - nada. First time we dropped it off, second time she came & picked it up. Since the last time, there haven't been any more - either UPS has FOUND her house, or the company stopped using them. And its not like it isn't right there over the door, my house number and it DOESN'T match the one on the box! IDIOTS!!!

Yeah, like how can they do such a mix up, don't the jerks read the actual address on the package and connect the dots with the address to deliver to. Maybe before they hire these people they should give them a literacy test to see if they know how to read . Don't get me going about Fed-Ex either...it took me three months to get a settlement about my computer I had ordered direct from apple..they kept saying because it was delivered and signed for (not me of course) that they couldn't reimburse me with either another computer or cash back. And one can't make a claim with Fed-Ex for misdeliveries, can only make a claim if the contents of the package was damaged on route---saves their hides doesn't it? No doubt someone on the Fed-Ex end of it "helped" themselves to the computer

I have had better luck with UPS than with FedEx. Over the last few years as hubby has tried to sell products (long story, unhappy wife) or I have tried to do product demonstrations and received the demo kits in the mail, or merchandising with shipments of kits, there have been some very strange missing things and things that never left the terminal three hours away, etc. It is a wonder we ever get anything in good shape, on time, and when needed. Will they at least reimburse Amy's cost?

Do you know I never thought it was so hard to pick a Parcel up and deliver it to the right Address I hope that you are both going to put a Complaint in It is so stupid that this has happened I am happy to read that Pyewacket is better though I am just wondering if that would help Gissi's Itchy Skin boiling some Sage and putting it on him

My father-in-law sent us some of my mother-in-laws things after she passed away. There were 3 boxes. The UPS chick was carrying them all at once. My stepson asked if he could take one for her. She said no, it is her job to deliver them. Then she dropped them on the doorstep from about a foot up. My stepson said he heard stuff break. One whole box of stuff was shattered. My father-in-law is filing some sort of complaint at his end.

No. My father-in-law is supposed to be taking care of it and I haven't heard anything. I think we should have complained too, but I got over-ruled.

Ok..this is just too weird. Between you and Mooch, the postal service and UPS are in deep doo doo with lost mail and packages. WTF!! It's gotta be cause of the Christmas season for stuff to come up missing or mis-delivered. UPS had better refund the whole shipping cost of the package for the trouble they caused. My lord, a person's life could of been riding on that package. Glad to hear Pyewacket is doing better and that the abcess is drained. It's best that it drained naturally anyways. Since he's snoozing, sneak up on him and give him my hugs and kisses. lol

Don't forget about Kissy. :-) Ya know, I was scratching Lil' Bear behind her ear earlier today and noticed a small hard lump but with her being so long-haired and black plus hating to be messed with other than petting, I couldn't tell if it was a matted lump of fur or what. Going to have hubby hog-tie her down so I can get a better look at it. She's due for a thorough brushing anyways. If it's just matted fur, I'll shave it off for her. She's pretty good with the clippers long as someone is holding her and talking softly to her.

Yes, what if it was life saving medicines (and in away it was)..some people get their medications all the time by delivery. Well, my friend Amy is going to give 'em hell about it, but it's not really at her end of it but here. She was in touch with supervisors too, but didn't seem to help. Yes, I'm glad the abscess drained naturally too..still trying to find the spot where it all oozed out...LOL Hehehe...I've been going up to him all night giving him hugs and kisses. I think he likes the extra attention. Maybe that abscess was a strange blessing. His one ear always bothered him, and frankly a tad smelly so he must have had the infection for awhile, but when the abscess developed must have been nature's way of getting rid of the infection. Of course I still freaked a bit when I saw that lump. When I was bathing the area with the sage solution I didn't notice any smell now..so in away, maybe it was good he got it in a way. Think I'll get up right now, and give him a kiss for you... :)

Well, to begin, pyewacket, I have been praying really hard for your kitty. I am so happy to hear that he seems to be improving so much. I have at least one horror of a delivery story that happened several years ago. I had decided to do most of my Christmas shopping from catalogs because it was just simpler for me. I was expecting deliveries from 4 or different places via UPS, and most of them had arrived on time and in excellent condition. There always has to be a fly in the ointment, however, because the most important order(for my s/o), just wouldn't come. I was down to 2 days before the final delivery date-with no success. I phoned the delivery company and they assured me that the package would be delivered on time. Needless to say, it did not arrive on time, and I had no gift for him on Christmas. To add insult to injury, neither party was willing to accept the blame. The package did finally arrive the day after Christmas.

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble gettting your computer delivered. Many times when I deleivered computers, I made sure that it got to the right person. My guess is that someone at FedEx stole your computer. I don't know how they could say you got your computer when some guy named Antonio signed for it and there were no residents in your home by that name. Can't blame you for being upset. Sometimes the big companies don't care enough about the customer. But I did have instances where I delivered electronics to people and then have them come back and say they never received them. I have never had any trouble getting deliveries from UPS, FedEx or even through the mail.

Yikes. I would be spitting fireballs. You have every right to be upset. I have never had this kind of trouble with UPS. I used to work for the competetion, FedEX Home Delivery. I never had this kind of trouble delivering a package. Somehow, you should be getting a shipping refund, that is assuming you get your package. But, as evidenced in the "Intention Experiments" conducted by Lynn McTaggart, intentions directed toward something do show that thoughts sent over many miles can change the outcome of some event and affect significant changes in objects. I hope Pye will be feeling up to snuff soon.

Sometimes I think there are more stray packages than animals. Delivery people just don't seem to care if they get things right or not and that really bugs me. I always track any package I send because I am going to be in someone's face if it doesn't get there when it is supposed to.

I learned a long time ago that paying extra for overnight delivery never pays off. Packages sent by regular mail have ALWAYS arrived faster! And what's more, my cat got bit by a rattlesnake this summer... he had a lump in his neck bigger than a softball, and he healed himself with no prayers from anybody, not even me, unless you call trusting in the ability of spirit to heal the physical body a prayer.

I feel terribly sorry for you and your baby. Yes, I live in NYC, UPS is terrible. They supposedly delivered a package to my daughter today but well alas, the idiot forgot to ring the door bell. She was up and would have heard it. They will deliver it on Monday. So often UPS does not do well and I say don't use them. However, I do have a suggestion that might help your baby. I had an old vet in Maine that helped me with the severe ear mite problem I had with my kitties. Mix a solution of 1/2 peroxide, 1/2 sea salt water and mix it up then pour it in the ears and let it sit as you rub your babies ears. She may not like this but it will help. I know because we just took care of a kitty who decided we were her new home 2 weeks ago full of mites. They are now gone. Do this for 14 days, they should go. The sea salt helps heal as the peroxide takes out the infection. I hope this helps and good luck on your little one and you. Happy holidays.

Hi pyewacket, No wonder you're fuming! I didn't think UPS would be this incompetent. They should make this up to you in some way. On a positive note, I'm glad that your sage compresses are working so well. I'll keep this in mind, if I'm ever in need of a remedy for anything like this. I can't recall any mis-delivered packages, but have had my local phone company turn my phone off at my 'new residence' many years ago. They were supposed to do so, at the old address, and just couldn't get it right. I was ticked off at that time, to say the least, after explaining the situation over and over, and being without a phone for days.

Oh Pyewacket's fine now :) I think he hated all the fussing I was doing, as cats aren't the world's greatest patients, but at the same time I think he liked all the attention--I've watched to see if the abscess comes back but it's been more than a week and no sign of it coming back--yay!!!
