i had visited this site where the environmental problems of recycling of computers and related parts were discussed. infact, there was an excerpt from an article to this effect. according to that, more than 60% of computer junk from the much developed nations were shipped to poor countries like India, Pakistan, China and the like to be 'recycled'. the concerned authorities are bribed, or they are totally indifferent and ignorant of the dangers of these contaminating waste materials and these are dismantled in a very crude manner which is extremely hazardous, like breaking them open with hammers and other tools, burning, etc which releases poisonous fumes. most unusable waste parts are thrown into rivers and lakes, thus contaminating them, which results in scarcity of clean water. burying unusable parts contaminates the earth, thus leading to several dangerous diseases. indivudally, none of us can do anything. but maybe we can spread awareness in our own ways to prevent many sources of environmental pollution...
