Okay my kids and grandsons were over the 22nd for our Christmas gift opening. Then Sunday the 123rd the wife & I went to the casino till Monday morning. Anyhow we opened all the gifts and let me tell you the best gift that I got. Now it isn't much. It is store bought and not home made. So there's no real sentimental personal flavor to it so to speak. I had did a discussion not being able to find colored ribbon candy. Guess what? My daughter shopped like a hound all over till she found some. This was the best gioft of all that I had recieved this year. She was tickled p[ink when I told her I loved it and it was the best gift I'd gotten. So what has been the best gift you've ever recieved? HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Seriously? Because my daughter was in an abusive relationship for the last 20+ years we haven't had to have any holidays together which included my grandkids. Now she is on her own and I see her and my granddaughter at least once a week and THE BEST PART is that my granddaughter has been here with me since yesterday and my daughter is coming tonight, staying overnight and we're going to my mothers for Christmas dinner tomorrow. For me this has been the best Christmas gift I have ever or will ever get!

Now that's sweet. I always manage to guess a few of my gifts. When I grabbed this one from my daughter I immediately thought it was one of those small boxes of Russel Stover chocolates as she knows I love those. But she shocked me and surprised me greatly. Thanks Minnie wherever you are right now. (Duluth MN) HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Aww-how sweet...literally too! Yes, I remember your discussion about ribbon candy. It does seem hard to find nowadays as I don't think it's as popular as it was when us old foggies were younger..LOL Now don't eat it all at once!! I think my best Christmas present was the Christmas tree I got this year. Since I'm on disability and things have been a little tighter than usual, it just didn't look like I could get one, and it would have been the first time ever in my life that I wouldn't have that tree. Well, I started a discussion, "Have You Ever Wanted Something...And"...and I related in it the fact that I didn't think I could get a tree...well some MyLot conspirators got together...I do know the identity of the one "gang" leader..but not the others. Since we private email each other, she asked for my address and begged me not to get a tree..I was actually thinking of forgoing paying some bills just to get the tree. Next thing you know, I'm getting an email from this christmas tree company that an anonymous friend was sending me a tree...and I'm like...holy moly! Well sure enough, two Fridays ago, it was delivered to me..and it's a beauty...I call it the "love" tree as it was given to me out of the love from some warm MyLotters with a generous spirit...of course, it's driving me batty not knowing who the other conspirators were behind it. But yes, I consider that my best gift ever..and the real ironic part, is here people from MyLot whom I may never ever meet were willing to do something like this for me...while my close friends in my neighborhood ...uh, well, didn't---

It was supposed to be JUST an apple crumble, but discovered I didn't quite have enough apples..oh no!! So I had some pears and them to it ...think I just invented a new recipe..LOL Hey..what happened to my fruitcakes?? :(

Awwww...that's nice. You are one lucky man. I love how this season seems to bring out the best in people and to have someone exert so much time and effort for you must be a true testament to her love for you. Sadly though, my family doesn't really believe in celebrating in Christmas (we're South East Asian). We go to a family friend's party every year for Christmas Eve and that's about it--we don't exchange presents or anything. But I did get some lovely chocolate biscuits from a friend this year :D Anyway, revel in the love your family has shown you. It's the best thing there is ! Cheers and good luck for 2008!

That's a wonderful and thoughtful thing that your daughter did, Grandpa Bob. Congrats on raising a wonderful daughter who would go to such lengths to be good to her Father. This year has been a tough year. I always try to make Christmas as special as I can, but sometimes it's really hard. This year seemed like it was going to be even more so. My Mother was declared disabled this year and has been out of work since January. She's still waiting for her disability to come through, so financially things have been very hard. One small blessing seemed to be that I had been offered a wonderful job that I thought was going to be the best thing that had ever happened to me. It turned out to be a huge mistake though and I was fired without cause after six months, a positive review and a raise! A new manager had been hired and I, being the newest and one of the highest paid of the office staff, was the first one to be let go. Just before I lost my job, I met a man whom I fell deeply in love with. We got together pretty quickly and hit a rough patch not long after. I was concerned that maybe I had made a mistake for a while in getting together with him. It just seemed like so many thing weren't going my way this year. I sank into a really deep depression with not being able to find a job and the trouble I experienced in my first couple of months in a new relationship. Things still aren't wonderful. I have yet to find a job and my Mother is still waiting for the process of getting that disability pushed through. But....I decided that I wasn't going to be one of those women who bailed at the first sign of rough seas in her relationship and I stuck with him. I'm happier now, in spite of the imperfections in my life, than I've ever been. I have new family that is here for Christmas and just had a wonderful small birthday celebration tonight (Christmas Day is actually my birthday, but we celebrate the night before). My wonderful man just registered a Star for me in the constellation Orion. My future Mother in law bought me a lovely Jewelry Armoire that I just love. My Mom gave me a bag full of goodies in my favorite scent. I love every gift that I received, but I would give it all back in a second simply for my man. He's been the most wonderful gift that I've ever received. A pair of loving arms to go to when I need a hug, a shoulder to cry on, a strong back to help me, and wonderful hands to pull me up when I'm down. He's the best friend I've ever had and the one person that I know I can count on above all else. His love is my gift. The best one I ever received.

For my new job I am finding I needed push pins for my bulliten board and an business address book. I also wanted a book to hold business cards in. My husband played santa and got me all three also he got me photo paper for my printer. He got the 8X10 size so I can print out large photos. I might exchange them to 4X6 size for convience. I loved the gifts. The best gift was my son, his girlfriend, daughter, her husband, my husband and I went out to dinner. It was great to be with my family once again.

is this the green and red ribbon candy? the kind that is usually sour if it's green? ooh thinking of it just makes me taste something sour in my mouth! i love it too, and thought that almost every loose candy store in the states should carry it... great that she found you some! truly, it's sometimes the little things that touch us the most.
