When I am sitting around and not moving about, my feet get icy. When we go to bed I put my ice cold feet on my husband to warm them up. Even when I wear thick socks and my fuzzy slippers my feet get cold. The only way they keep warm is if I am on my feet moving around. You are not alone my friend. Welcome to the icy foot club!

I am still working. The work has me on my feet nearly all day long. When I get home, I am whooped.

I always have that problem when it's winter.
Wearing socks after it is already cold doesn't help. So, I have to first get my feet warm and then wear the socks. But sometimes, the socks alone doesn't keep the cold away. It's so difficult to walk then!

Sounds like a good plan, to warm the socks first. I am also going with tights under my clothes, because of a post, and several people mentioned to move around more, and that does help me.

I was not very complete. Warm the feet, warm the socks, then put the warm socks on the warm feet. We will all try to get warmer feet, I think.

lol..at first I was confused too. It doesn't get cold enough to warm the socks first. It's just that I am prone to cold feet. It doesn't snow here...it just gets a pleasant cold and my feet get icy cold!I guess it's in my genes. I remember my mother yoused to sit in front of a heater with socks on and warm her feet!

My feet are always like ice in the winter. My husband got me some suede/fur slippers. So far they are working great.

My hubby swears by his slippers from LLBean--suede lined with lambskin. I do not keep slippers on well, just me. He says change socks often, that sweat in them makes your feet cold.

My hubbies are from Cabellas - but probably the same ones. He got me a pair for Christmas and they feel like shoes (I hate wearing shoes) but they do keep my feet warm...

Yes I have the same problem. Make sure you have a good blood circulation. I am trying to walk at least half an hour a day. That should help you a bit. Try to take a hot shower or bath before you go to bed and try to wear thermal socks. If all this fails you can always use your better half's feet to warm up yours.

We put a heated mattress pad on our bed, so my feet are warm then. I also got a recliner with a heater for watching television. This has been a better winter than the one I posted about before.

I make the rice packs from two washclothes sewing them every 2 1/2 inches apart. fill them with rice and put them in the microwave for about two minutes. I put this pack in bed with me where my feet are. It is amazing how keeping your feet warm all night will help them to retain heat in day time also

I am fortunate to have a heated mattress pad. It is cozy to crawl into a pre warmed bed. It cuts our heating bills, as we do not heat that part of the house now, just the beds. I do know they recommend putting socks on elderly people year round to improve their sleep. I had a free standing gas stove when my kids were little, and I would put a brick on it for each of us, then wrap it in a towel and put it in the bed. My kids were healthier than most other kids. I had not thought about it making me warmer all day as well.

On those record breaking cold days we had last month my feet were really cold. I was wearing slipper socks and then slippers over them that seemed to help. Get yourself some fleece slipper socks or those extra thick slipper socks hopefully that will help. On those really cold days I was working on my lap top with a blanket over the lower half of my body. It is 26 degrees here today and I feel OK in the house today.

I have to be careful how much I put on my feet right now, since the foot surgery. I am just being able to wear house shoes. I got some at Wal Mart called Aussie Clogs. They have a fleece lining and are suede. On clearance for $7 and they look okay when I wear them someplace. I think I may go get some olive green ones as well.

Actually, that makes good sense. The blood flowing to your stomach gets warm and travels to your whole body. I might try that, or a hot cat--LOL. Right now they like to lay across my legs below the knees, cause I often have the laptop on my lap.I will concentrate on keeping my core warm. Thanks

I always found that if my feet are warm, the rest of me is warm.
I use bedsocks to keep m y feet warm.
You could have poor circulation if your feet are cold when the rest if you is warm.
Try soaking your feet in warm water. Or maybe wrapping a hot water bottle around them.
What about walking? Would this help circulation in your feet?

I probably need to move around more. I have sat quite a bit for the last few days, and that is when I have noticed it. It also does not help that when I go outside for anything I get my feet in the snow. Brr.

I like it when my feet are cold. Due to health issues I'm alternately very hot or very cold. I find that having my feet covered warms the entirety of myself. But I know Walmart sells slippers that not only heat but vibrate. They also use batteries of course.

OOh, I like this avatar, too. My daughter has tended to sleep with her feet out, even if the rest is bundled up. Those slippers would be nice for sitting at home. That is what I have done for parts of the last few days.

my feet get awful cold, as we have cement floors. brrrr. with this coldness lately there is also associated pain. it is difficult to warm them up. socks and slippers are not enough, it seems. a bucket of hot water if you have time to relax may do the trick... if you bundle them well afterwards. I have been known to heat my socks up on a heater and putting them on toasty warm - I am thinking of buying one of those hunters warmers that they put in their gloves to keep their hands warm - only using them in my socks instead.

My feet are also very cold in the freezing weather. I can't think out a better way to solve it as the socks and shoes can't help so much. Perhaps you shall try to do some exercise so that you will feel warm. And washing your feet with warm water before sleeping will make you have a good sleep.

I think this is a pretty common problem, but I do not remember it before this year so much. Lots of good advice in this discussion. I will get up and around more today and see if that helps my feet feel better. I agree, warm feet at night is really soothing.

I used to have cold hands and feet all of the time. Dunno if it is a coincidence or not, but after moving to the desert all that stopped. Now even in the "winter" I'm comfortable all of the time. It used to be said that cold appendages were a sign of poor circulation, but that is not necessary the case. When the onset is sudden, though, you certainly want to rule out possible illnesses of which cold fee can be a symptom. Does wiggling your toes help?

I think I am having circulation problems from not getting up and about. I have a few days that I can be a little lazy, and it shows. I know that too much of that can cause deep vein thrombosis, and peripheral artery disease. I know I put capsaicin cream on one day, and it felt warm at first, but it made them so warm they sweated, and then they got really cold from being wet from sweat.

I have cold feet all the time. I hate it with such a passion but there's nothing out there that can change it, at least not that I know of. However when they get so cold that I can't take it anymore I'll put a pair of socks in the dryer for about 5 or 10 minutes to get them nice and toasty then put them on.... whew!! and ahhhh! Talking about feel so good!! Oh yeah!! It warms my feet from the outside in to the core. Try it, it may work for you.

I have had a similar problem most of my life. If the temp goes under 75 my feet a feetcicles. Socks are good, but trail sox are better. They are a thicker sock. Used mostly by campers, or people who hunt.I also have a Bed Buddy. Its a microwavable long sort of sock. it has rice or buckwheat inside. I nuke it and place it next to my feet. Nice and toasty.

I know about the bed buddies, but bed is no problem, as I have an electric bed warmer. It is a heated mattress pad.I probbly should get heavier socks, or move around a little bit more. I thoght perhaps it is my age catching up to me. I either have colder feet or a memory that just is so short I have forgotten the cold feet.

Well, I suffer from this problem even when I wear socks from time to time, and a lot of mine stems from being Diabetic and loosing a lot of the circulation in my feet. It actually can be a frustrating thing for sure. But I guess all we can do is keep our feet covered and hope for the Best from there.

My feet are aslo very cold during the winter time. My daughter bought me some microwaveable comfort booties. They work great all you do is put them in the microwave and heat them and put them on. they keep your feet really warm.

I'll be 50 in Feb. and find that my feet are always cold in winter now. My hands as well, somewhat but not as much as my feet. When it hits winter I'm not without my thermals on; the entire day and nite. I found that 2 pairs of socks; a thinner warm one and a nice thick pair help my feet to stay warm. Getting old sucks sometimes...

My feet stay cold many days, but mostly because I have circulation problems in my spine. The blood is sluggish into my legs and feet because of a bulging disc, and spinal compression from where one ruptured and it couldn't be entirely relieved. I have double problems though because when my feet are cold, they are also usually swollen. Putting on a pair of socks can be painful when your legs swell above the top of your socks. I've become best friends with a heating pad instead.

Hi, GardenGerty. If I have on thin shoes and socks, my feet will get really cold and frozen. Especially, when I have to stand outside in the freezing weather. I think that you should try getting some thermal socks and insulated boots to help with your feet feeling so frozen. I hope that this will help you.
