Ok Mylotters put your brains to work and answer this for me. I see so many Christmas trees that are still up and lit that it got me to wondering about them, Why do they have to be in the shape of an upside down cone? Who decided to use that type of tree? What kind of decorations were used on the first Christmas tree (if any)? And who put up the first Christmas tree and why?

I can answer one of your questions. The shape of the tree is just the typical shape of the evergreens that are used for Christmas trees. The 'cone' shape is the ideal because it is symmetrical and symmetry is a major characteristic of beauty. Evergreens are the trees used because at this time of year they are the only ones that are not bare, at least in the northern hemisphere.
